Thanks! Updated from 10.14.1 to 10.14.6, went fine. Took about 45 minutes. Don't worry about purple lines and slow loader progress, it will get there, eventually.
Just updated to Mojave after a full back-up of High Sierra.
Installation was a breeze (didn't even have to select Boot macOS Install as it did so automagically). So for me it was just literally clicking the install button and everything went fine.
Sound was not working (but this was expected)...
Awesome! Just mounted the EFI partition and replaced the entire EFI folder with yours! Still starts up, and Sleep is working as well.
I'm still unsure if my GPU Fan is making too much noise, spinning too fast, I thought it'd be quieter. Is there a way to read out the Fan speed? I've installed...
I'm not using your EFI Folder, I read about it in your building guide, but it wasn't clear to me what to do with it.
Can I safely remove the kexts installed with Kextbeast and use your EFI folder? Where would I have to put it to get it to work?
It's not a Nvidia card I'm using, it's the MSI...
So, the method above worked. I was finally able to complete to setup and launch MacOS. Thanks @pastrychef for confirming it wasn't the BIOS settings and was probably the bootable USB.
Ethernet is working, GPU is detected (benchmark with Unigine Heaven is attached).
However I have to major...
Trying to download it per this method as it really won't do anything in the App Store on my old macbook: http://osxdaily.com/2017/09/27/download-complete-macos-high-sierra-installer/
Will then follow these steps...
At first I indeed had a 19MB installer, so I followed all the steps needed to get the full installer. I would like to try again to make sure, but unfortunately I do not have access to a Mac anymore (I have my old MacBook but whenever I try to install High Sierra, it just won't start the...
Thanks for your reply!
So, plugging my HDMI cable into the graphics card unfortunately won't show me anything. Is there a way to check if the Mobo even recognizes it? Plugging it into the Mobo does work.
The steps you've provided, that's what I've been trying to do.
Step 5 however, shows me...
Updated the BIOS. Ram still not recognized, unfortunately.
I chose the PEG option before and after the reboot my monitor wouldn't turn on, so I had to reset all BIOS settings in order to see anything again. I've connected it to an HDMI port, as I don't have a DVI port. Could the PEG option be...
I've aborted the current installation because it was stuck.
Your guide was the first guide that I'd tried, without any luck. Gave me the error: macOS could not be installed on your computer
So after reading through the forums I created a new bootable USB (another USB stick as well to be sure)...
Thanks for your reply.
Hereby the current specs (not much has changed apart from the you which now is a MSI Radeon RX Vega 56):
CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: NZXT - Kraken M22 Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus - ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC) ATX LGA1151...
Not sure if I need to open a new topic for this, as (hopefully) there might be an easy fix.
I've spent over 6 hours today to get through the MacOS High Sierra installation without any luck. I've tried multiple different boot options and bios settings and am kind of stuck of what to try.
My...
Yeah, so I have the exact same card at home right now. And that tweaking is awesome, definitely worth a try!
I think I'll keep those 200euro's in my pocket and save them for a major GPU upgrade if I ever need one.
Next week I will start my build, can't wait!
So, finally received all my parts, just to find out the supplier made a mistake. They send me a Vega 56 instead of a 64 ( I already noticed it was a lot cheaper than the Vega 64's from other suppliers, so they probably just made a mistake on the website ). Now I have the option to return it and...
Thanks for the help @pastrychef !
One more thing. What's your opinion on RAM stick sets and combining them on a dual channel board? I've read different opinions on using 2x16GB and 4x8GB.
My original idea was to go for 2x16GB now, and in the future expand it with another 2x16GB to have 64GB in...
Awesome! Thanks for the help @pastrychef and for conforming @Gigamaxx ! Than that will be my new card :).
I'll start ordering my stuff, and will post a link here to a user build thread. Can't wait to get started :).
Any explicit guides you would advice to follow other than the standard ones and...
I did some researching on the site and only found problems with the Vega 64 (fans always on and spinning), but read this was a Mac problem that will hopefully be fixed with updates. So, now I'm looking for the best possible card within my budget that works without problems with minimal...
