Yeah, changing motherboard might work but I also recommend you to try checking carefully your BIOS settings following the guide here. I had black screen issues even with my ASUS motherboard and I fixed it by following that BIOS setting VERY carefully.
At last, you can try updating your BIOS to...
I had similar issues with my old MSI motherboard. Everything was running fine on Catalina but Big Sur turns into black screen. Then I switched to ASUS's motherboard and the problem went away. I don't know exactly what the issue is but at the time I had my MSI motherboard, I managed to reduce the...
This particular issue seems to be a combination of the MSI motherboard and the Gigabyte 5700 XT card. I replaced my motherboard with a ASUS ROG one and now it's working as usual.
Yeah, I've seen only a few 5700 XT folks reporting this issue. I had minimum config changes and latest OC build/kexts of course. The only difference I can think of is I have a 9th Gen CPU and you have a 8th. Tried to play with MacPro7,1 and iMacPro1,1, both same issue and tried with/without...
So Big Sur fixed an issue that has been there on Catalina ever since I installed it. The mouse cursor no longer has sudden jumps!!!!
The only issue with the public beta is that Youtube (vp9 codec) is causing Safari to stall and crash very often. Most likely an issue with the 5700 XT driver...
Thanks for this.
I'm using 5700 XT here.
Benchmark 5:
Before Metal 60406
After Metal 74461
Around 23% more.
Before OpenCL 60491
After OpenCL 68941
Real difference there. Great work!
Did a clean install from Mojave.
1. Updated Clover, Lilu, WhateverGreen, AppleALC to the latest using CC.
2. Create a new volume in the same container as Mojave using Disk Utility.
3. Install Catalina on the new volume.
4. Move documents and projects and other important stuff from Mojave to...
hmm, still no luck. It's weird that 0x1009 works...For me, I don't have a DGPU so I had to put a platform-id in the my clover's Device Properties in order to boot successfully. Not sure if that's related but I can't think of anything else special I'm doing here.
EFI folder attached for anyone...
Ha, that's very interesting. So I tried 0x1009 and it shows i9 correctly. But it won't show i7 when I applied 0x0709. Are you using the special 10.14.4 build 18E2034 or the general one?
