Hi
I might give it a go to try to force the AMD Decoder….
Now regarding sleep…
As I posted in other forums.
I do not use sleep, therefore I do not care about it!
If I do not go to use the ‘mac’ for a long period of time I just turn it off.
Sleep would only be useful as far I can see if I...
hi
for what is worth (I am not an expert)
I do use a z170 Pro Gaming with a i7-7700 since the motherboard support it out of the box without any modifications.
I enabled the Intel HD Graphics 630 and added in boot-args this entry: shikigva=80
after this the VDA Decoder is fully supported.
I...
for what is worth...
I have an ASUS Z170 pro gaming with i7 6700. And of course no Ventura support since too old.
I know you can patch the bios and do some 'simple' mod on mainboard and presto you can support 9th generation CPU on the board with the Z170 chipset
There are videos and forums.

This time I have uninstalled it
I am using the default (supplied) WiFi card in the Probook.

Hi
The upgrade from 12.6 to 13 went well.
To be honest it was pretty quick (HP Probook 440-G7 i5/32Gb SSD/M2 OC84)
got back to login ok
logon fine then keep reboot or else.
Found the culprit (my bad), it was little snitch 'fault' I was running 5.4.x and forgot to disable/remove it before the...
got this update this morning....
I ran the Apple beta installer.
It did not come up with a 'Ventura' download. I guess HW too old :)
but I got this one 12.6.1
ran it, all seems ok.
Hi all
Apologies if it is the wrong forum.
Please fell free to move it to the right one

I cannot try it since I do not own a Mx Mac :-(
I have Synology DS216j for soo many years now...
used as a NAS, SAN, VPN, Website (basic), Mail backup built in mail server and other services at time.
Does the job well so far for all of the above.
But being based on Arm and not a very fast one plus not much memory it is (very) limited in...
hi
here an article which I believe reflect nicely the on going saga.
The new MacBook Pro highlights what's gone wrong with Windows laptops
how many people/companies will/would upgrade let say their cheap/mainstream laptop to get the latest intel chipset/cpu. Not a lot I guess.
I work in 'IT'...
If what you read from various forums is true or partly true, the 14/16" MacBook Pro should be a hell of a machine if you 'max it up'.
Of course as always there will be the price tag. But then high end Intel laptops are not cheap ether.
MagSafe charging port... Most of my mates using MacBook...
Hi
No they do not have to. It is their OS they can do what they want. If we are happy or not that another matter.
I cannot speculate the why not or why yes!
On the coding side why spending time to make everything work on an 'old system'?
Yes you can run it but with limitation which for me is...
Hi
I do agree with you.
You only need to upgrade the OS if you want/need to run the latest version of your preferred Apps.
I still have my old Hackintosh running High Sierra since I can run all my Steam games which is not the case on later MacOS.
Also I have various Applications which works...
If we keep on one side all the 'snags' with the new board for a moment.
The Botton lines are:
No one knows what Apple will do with its x86 'computers range'.
Will they launch a new x86 Mac (any flavours) anytime soon. If they do may be there will be more 'in house' supports for new chipsets...
this one seems free.... but will it do for you
it is not 'remote mouse'
https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/mobile-mouse-server/id412814284?mt=12
mind you you might get charge for the IOS Apps side of it?
but I would say for the price 'El Trackpad' is not too bad. If if it that useful and working...
I read the article when it came out. It was a very good read.
Their software is pretty good and 'free' I recommend to try them if you do not want to pay for the 'paid' equivalent.
regarding virus another good read...
hi
No easy answer I am afraid.
If you have a let say 'dedicated FW' (HW/SW solution) between your internet connection and your 'estate' network then no problem you can get any reports you want about anything.
If you have a router which will act as 'Router, FW, WiFi' then milleage might vary...
