Fresh installing on older hackintosh hardware

I've been running a hackintosh I built at least 4 years ago. I used the traditional uni/multibeast setup to install 10.6 originally, and now it's on 10.8.2. It's getting long in the tooth and I'd like to get it running El Capt on a fresh hard drive. Is there anything that's a red flag in my...

    Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide January 2014

No, "in tadem" means two cards running at the same time. SLI means that two cards are driving one (or more) monitors with combined efforts. Two GPU cards in tandem do not have to combine efforts - SLI imples that.

    Building a CustoMac: Buyer's Guide November 2013

I did the same, the 10 SATA ports were the overridding factor for me, double NICs are nice sometimes but the SATA ports were what I choice mine based on.

    BT on 10.9 with a Z87X-UD5H

I've had some trouble recently finding a true plug and play BT module - I had bought a an IOGear GBU521 that refused to show up in 10.9. Does anyone have positive experiences with a different bluetooth adapter within 10.9 that they are very happy with?

    Z87X-UD5H unibeast 3.0.1 unable to install 10.9

Resolved, kinda: After a few more experimentations the board's USB ports stopped sending data (devices would power but not send signals) even at the BIOS screen with no hard drives attached at all. Board was returned as defective, replacement board worked on first boot, no drama. Can't...

    Z87X-UD5H unibeast 3.0.1 unable to install 10.9

I've been able to sucessfully get to the installer and put 10.9 on the harddrive. The BIOS settings remained the same. I needed to set flags for GraphicsEnabler=No, -x -v ncpi=0x2000. Possibly most important, was I gave up on the DVI port. The monitor is now plugged in via a DisplayPort to DVI...

    Z87X-UD5H unibeast 3.0.1 unable to install 10.9

There is no USB2 ports. The are all USB 3. The headers that came with the board, and the case were all USB3. It obviously has no problem seeing the Unibeast USB stick so I'm not sure what to think of that.

    Z87X-UD5H unibeast 3.0.1 unable to install 10.9

Ok this is new. I switched from using the DVI port to the DisplayPort. Now after the -v boot it goes to grey, I see a mouse pointer for a momment before it turns into a spinning beachball. I can't move the mouse but the beachball does keep going.

If I continue to wait after the grey screen comes back after the -v boot, it turns to this:

    Z87X-UD5H unibeast 3.0.1 unable to install 10.9

I'll add that I also am on the F7 bios, not the f4 which it shipped to me with, it has been updated. Again, no combination of bootflags now including DropSSDT=yes, IGPEnabler=yes and -f seem to have an effect.

Motherboard with more than 6 SATA ports

I've looked around and asked here about SATA cards already actually, I'm having trouble because there seem to be very few recommendations for confirmed working in OS X / Windows controller cards, and those that are, cost more than the difference between motherboards that have 10 SATA ports to 6...

Motherboard with more than 6 SATA ports

I've been up and down the recommended buying guide pages and it seems the cheapest compatible motherboard with more than 6 SATA ports would be the GA-Z87X-UD3H, UD4H or UD5H. These boards are otherwise overkill for the performance purposes I'm looking for. I'd much rather see something like a...

Additional SATA ports on PCI card

I'm looking to move my existing hackintosh or build a second in a case with more drive bays for internal storage (not a fan of external storage and NAS isn't an option) so the obvious answer is an additional SATA controller card - doesn't need to be high end, no eSATA ports required, doesnt need...

i5-2500k, GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3, Radeon HD 6850 (Former Frostcall build)

Using Mutibeast 5.2 on 10.8.2, I simply had to set bootoption GraphicsEnabler=No and switched my 6850 to a GTX 670 and it still works flawlessly.
