I'll accept defeat now. Thank you for your time ;-)

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Sorry about leaving a few days of silence, I was very busy with outside broadcasts. I've tried the F4 method (and Fn+F4) earlier, but somehow nothing ever gets written to the origin folder. So I chose a different recommended method: extracting the files with an Ubuntu Live USB drive. That...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Thanks, that'd be great. ACPIBatteryManager.kext is already installed, using Kext Wizard. It doesn't show up as "loaded" in that same program after a reboot, though. Attatched are the (presumably, it's 2 am here) untouched DSDT and SSDT files as output by Patchmagic. I've tried the F4-trick in...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

As far as I can tell, I've followed all the steps as described in the Problem Reporting chapter. But I do agree with you, this might be a PEBKAC issue. Please, be more elaborate if I keep overlooking something. I'm doing the best I can to give you all the info you need, but we're obviously not...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Sorry man, I completely missed that in the guides. I gave this a try, too -- the full thing: running the commands you mentioned, re-patching the resulting DSDT.dsl, saving it out as an AML and replacing the file in /EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched with the new version. No difference, the battery...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

I open MaciASL, which opens the system's DSDT on startup. That's what I'm trying the patch out on. Patchmatic -extract returns the same DSDT file in .aml.

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Okay, so I've been hard at work trying to wrap my head around the patch writing process. I decided to go with fixing the 16-bit objects only at first, as the larger ones were a bit too complicated for my logic-lacking brains, haha. I guess I'm pretty close, but compiling isn't possible yet...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Thanks, I am aware of that page ;-) As mentioned, I have applied a patch from https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch as there is one for this particular system. This did not work. I will be very realistic and say that I am not skilled enough to figure out my own DSDT patch. Is anyone out...

Lenovo Z580, El Capitan, and SSDT/DSDT patches

Hi everyone, First of all: my eternal gratitude goes out to everyone who has participated in these forums. I've learned a great deal of things while reading things that were written here. Here's a quick sketch of the situation I'm in right now: Lenovo Ideapad Z580 laptop (system details in my...
