    macOS 10.12.2 Update

Just updated using the App Store. Weirdest thing about the whole process was that the "Update" button in the App Store wouldn't actually let me press it! I rebooted twice, and on the second reboot, it asked if I wanted to install the update. I did, it said it would take 20mins, but took about...

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

I was wondering if someone can help. I've got the UD3 board, running Sierra, and everything in the most part is great. The only issue is that I can only get USB harddrives to be detected when plugged into the black ports on the back of the machine, next to the serial port. USB memory sticks seem...

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Just FYI this was entirely caused by my use of an HDMI cable, instead of Displayport, or Dual Link DVI. I thought it was being caused by something in software as it worked perfectly in Windows. On another note: I've run the USB set script, and I think I've tied the patched files in correctly...

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

OK, fixed this now too. It was just the cable I was using, OSX is pretty weak when it comes to this IMO. No 2560x*** over HDMI, only DVI dual channel or DP. So, currently using a very short DVI cable, and will order a long DP cable soon. Thanks, and sorry for posting slightly too soon.

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Hey thanks, I've actually since installed an Nvidia 760, and I'm still only getting 1080p. I'll continue searching around, various people seem to be suggesting various fixes and some are reported as working.

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Ok, so I seem to have fixed my error. I removed the nvda_drv line from my boot args in Clover Configurator. Now the web driver is running as desired. Now about that 2560x1080, anyone got any ideas of how I can force that to work?

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. I'm having the "You Select Nvidia Web Drivers in the menu bar or the Nvidia Driver Manager preference pane but when you restart OS X Default Graphics Driver is checked." issue. I've just installed the Nvidia web drivers for 10.12 today. I am running...

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Ok, just tried with and without all the lines added by Multibeast for the graphics and annoyingly I either get OK performance, (no jitters) but 1920x1080. Or I get true 2560x1080 with flickering all over the place. DVI makes no difference. Doesn't look like I'm going to win at this stage, so...

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Yeah, I did expect some tweaking and stuff. The thing that I was surprised by was that the screen was correctly detected straight away, and then became the wrong size/res when I added the driver for it. So I saved my config.plist and made a new installation of the entire EFI as just removing...

    [GUIDE] Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

Issue with LG Superwide Screen: Hi guys, I wonder if you can help me? I've just set up my first Hackintosh, with the GA Z170X UD3 board, as is detailed in this thread. I'm using the HDMI output from my PC to my screen, and no additional GPU, although I should be picking up a 780 in the next...

Advice to build audio production hackintosh

FYI I Tweeted at Gigabyte a while back and they said the USB 3.1 port on that board, would be TB enabled as well.

Skylake Thunderbolt 3 for Music Production

To be honest, I don't think anyone can say for sure as MacOS doesn't support TB3 at all right now, so what will work in future is anyone's guess.

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

Yeah, I'm well aware of the differences between USB, Firewire and Thunderbolt. I've done extensive testing in the past of the differences and merits of each platform. BUT the problem is not one of which interface is BEST for audio, because as you say it's a low bandwidth (comparatively), but...

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

I hear you, I had been wondering the very same thing, and actually have been looking at the very board you have, but I think I'm going to go with a cheaper Z170 so I can overclock. Then if the TB3 thing gets worked out I'll switch out the mobo. Yeah, it's the audio hardware I'm interested in as...

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

Sure thing, thanks Nico. I'm half tempted to leave Thunderbolt and go for a smaller, cheaper motherboard, especially as I don't currently have a use for it, and including is merely for future proofing. Maybe it's better to just pick up a board that will support TB PCI cards instead. Am I right...

Skylake Thunderbolt 3 for Music Production

I thought you guys might like to know I heard from Gigabyte, that the Z170X UD3 Ultra is now TB3 enabled: https://twitter.com/GIGABYTEUSA/status/763124248168857600

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

Thanks Zipb, that's also good to know. I know the current limitations on TB3 are on Apple's side, so yeah let's hope they make use of it and make so we can use it too. In the meantime I thought you might like the know that I heard back from Gigabyte on the TB3 chipset in the Z170x UD3...

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

That is awesome, thanks so much. I see the 2x FW800 + 1x FW400 card is €44 which is a bargain, thanks so much for your help.

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

Hey NicoD, that's extremely useful information, thanks a lot. Do you have a link for the French Vendor at all? I'm in the UK so shipping should be fine from there I think.

Hackintosh for Music Production - a Few Questions

Hi Guys, This is my first post here, although I've been reading posts on this forum for ages now. First off, I apologise in advance if the topic of my questions has been covered elsewhere already, I've read through as many posts as I can handle and I've not found a clear answer to a couple of my...
