After more research, I found out that the problem was my XFX R9 280x video card. I had to load the vbios for it to boot. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

I was able to boot into Sierra for the first time tonight after renaming the rom file. Not sure what happened but after I rebooted, it got stuck again. My question is how do I set it up so that on each reboot, clover will automatically inject ATI and load vBIOS to get back into Sierra.

I'm a noob at this stuff. How do I find the vendor and device ID of my XFX R9 280x card to make the rom name change? Thanks.
