I've just gone from a GTX 970 to RX 580. Had to use the DisplayPort on the 580 to get to the installer,
I just got a black screen after the Apple logo on boot if I was using HDMI. I uninstalled nvidia drivers
before the swap. Everything is working great.
You need to put apfs.efi in your clover driversUEFI64 folder or if you're using legacy it goes in the drivers64 folder, your drive should show up then and you''ll be able to continue the installer.
Tip: If you're using a Gigabyte 6/7 Series Award Bios and using clover legacy install you need to put apfs.efi into the driver64 folder in clover not the drivers64UEFI folder. I used fakesmc, nullpowermangement and my ethernet kext in clover kexts other.

I'm not sure they're big fans of Hackintosh on macrumors, lol. I've bought a Mac Pro 3.1 as they were going cheap on eBay. I always lusted after one but could never afford one until now. There is something about using a genuine Mac. I've upgraded the memory to 16GB 800mhz and added a HD 6870 PC...
Check the macroumers website they're pretty good with compatible gfx cards in genuine macs. I'm using a 6870 pc card that's been flashed for Mac and it works great with my Mac Pro 3.1. Another good resource is netkas.org.
Good luck Bro'
