    The argument for staying with 16GB in the 2017 MacBook Pro was due to the limit intel had with LPDDR4 maxing out at 16GB. I believe Ice Lake or something like that will have this support but its not out yet, did they use regular DDR4 instead?

    I have a 09 upgraded to 5,1, they only check the 5,1 number and not the release year at least thats how its always worked till now.

    Seems like new Nvidia drivers are out, I updated to 10.13.4 and then did the Nvidia driver check and it downloaded and installed! version: 387.10.10.10.30.103

    As I stated, it wont work for new installs. you would need to open the install package and somehow modify the version number in the installer that it is looking for to reflect the new one, not sure this can even be done.

    This fix only works for people who have the webdriver already installed, it will not install if you already have the security update installed on your system.

    because there is no acceleration or video at all if you dont use them. apple doesnt supply any drivers for nvidia unless your card is very old because no current mac products use them.

    the update will load and not prompt you for a reboot. next time you do though, no web driver. if you go to settings and nivida and do a check it will not have any update yet. I hate that nvidia does this, what the heck is the point of locking the driver to a specific build of macos?! at least...

    I setup a Frankenmac with an old MacPro 5,1 and without the nvidia driver loading I get ZERO video, had to VNC in. at least on the hackintosh the software driver would kick in...

    I wasn't sure if it was going to be an issue but sure enough after you apply the security update and restart (it donesnt force a restart but dont be deceived) the nvidia driver does not load because the build is different. just a heads up; theres no driver update from nvidia at time of me...

    yes but you would be better off just getting a newer one most likely. you would need an adapter card.
