I just received mine yesterday from the same seller. I ordered it during Chinese New Year. I was about to install it, but I wonder if it would be easier to just stick it on one of these M.2 to PCI-E adapters: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MDH28Y/?tag=tonymacx86com-20. I do have an M.2 slot, but...
I spoke too soon. While the audio did work, it only did so on whatever audio solution I had been using when I went to sleep. If I tried changing from "headphones" to "internal speakers," the options to do so were not there. So, if I had been listening on headphones before sleeping, I would only...
Thanks so much! I used EFI Mounter to drop it into the folder. The sound was off at the time. I restarted my machine, let it sleep for a few hours and found that the sound was still working.
I have an MSI H170A PC Mate board that uses ALC887. I'm on 10.13.2.
Hey! I did see the top-left artifacts, but they were only there when I still had my monitors connected to my on-board graphics. Once I toggled the UEFI selection and reconnected my monitors to my graphics card, there was absolutely no problem. Cheers, mate!
Ah, ok. See, I asked because I figured I'd have to go into the UEFI to enable the PCI-E GPU. It was the right call. I didn't remember seeing anywhere else anything about what else should or could be reverted. Thanks!
Gigamaxx, I changed these settings to install Sierra. My question is about reversing the settings to what they were. Should I do that? Or will that mess up Sierra? I have a very old film scanner (SCSI connection), and I would think it needs to have the IO SerialPort enabled to work.
Sorry about that. I'm wondering about these settings:
4. If your system has CFG-Lock, disable it
5. If your system has Secure Boot Mode, disable it
7. If your system has IO SerialPort, disable it
8. Set XHCI Handoff to Enabled
Can I change them to their default states?
Thanks!
Successful installation on MSI H170A PC MATE. I installed Sierra with onboard graphics and went back to the UEFI later to enable my GPU. My graphics work fine on my older GT 730.
Can I go back and enable/disable other UEFI items that were changed for this installation?
omarbasha, thanks for the awesome tips and the included zip! Did you rebuild those drivers somehow?
I have everything working on my MSI H170 A PC MATE except for iMessage (haven't followed any guides for that yet) and I'm assuming FaceTime (haven't checked).
I'm sure in your guide you mean...
