    MSI Z170A Gaming M7

I already have the 500GB drive. It doesn't cost me anything to use it. I'm already using my current SSDs, so wiping them is kind-of stupid. This is more of a dual-boot kind of thing where Windows 10 will be the primary OS, but being able to run a fully-functional copy of OS X would let me...

    MSI Z170A Gaming M7

Anyone have compatibility information for this motherboard yet? Like, what works, what doesn't? Or should I attempt to do it myself? For my newest Skylake build: CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake (running at base 4.0 GHz, not overclocked) Cooler: Corsair H100i (liquid 2x120mm loop)...

Install Yosemite on Nehalem i7 possible?

Cool. I just had a quick look-over of those two threads. I'll have to read them in closer detail later. I looked up the Big Bang Trinergy's specs and the audio chip is a Realtek ALC889 chip. The audio connections are on the PCI-Express x1 riser card, but considering I am getting sound out...

Install Yosemite on Nehalem i7 possible?

My question is one of hardware compatibility. You guys are the knowledgeable ones and the internet likes to lock down non-Mac lists. All I found with a 10-minute search for compatibility was lists of MAC models that will support Yosemite. So I'm asking you guys, the holy grail of OSX gurus...

    DSDT Extract errors

Ok. I used this DSDT.dsl and the program you suggested to quick-patch the DSDT.aml file (using the MSI P55 + GD80 patch file). The results: Stable system. Good recognition of internal hardware. NO SOUND. No matter which setup of Realtek enablers I use from Multibeast, nothing works. It...

    DSDT Extract errors

I finally got my DSDT.dsl file. I had to use commands: sudo acpidump -b -t DSDT -o /tmp/DSDT.aml sudo iasl -dc /tmp/DSDT.aml >/tmp/dsdt.dsl NOW we're playing. This is extracted from my MSI Big Bang Trinergy (P55 GD80 + NF200). If anyone is interested in this file, post here and I'll attach...

    DSDT Extract errors

In order to begin to attempt a DSDT.aml fix for my Hackintosh project, I must first extract a working DSDT from my system BIOS. Most sources I've found on-line reference me to Linux commands. With this in mind, I wiped my 500GB hard drive and installed Ubuntu 11.04. Then I proceeded to...

Help with Asus EN GTX 460 TOP 1Gb

UPDATE: I used Multibeast to re-install JUST the 64-bit GraphicsEnabler=Yes option and restarted. THIS time, instead of crashing, it actually booted in and I now have all graphics resolutions including my 23" monitor's 1920x1080 native resolution with 3D enhancements. WOOT! You guys rock...

Help with Asus EN GTX 460 TOP 1Gb

Nah. What I mean is that once it's running, I attempt to fix something, be it my sound card (which apparently DOES crash OS X during boot when installed), my video card (which never works but at least I can see basic stuff), my Netgear WNA3100 which has no OS X drivers that I am currently aware...

Help with Asus EN GTX 460 TOP 1Gb

This is a previously existing Windows 7 build for maximum game-playing. But I've had this copy of 10.6 Snow Leopard (+iLife + iWork) for over 6 months since I've been wanting to learn OS X. I have several technical certifications in the IT field as well as a Computer Science degree (I know...

Helpful New Edit to iBoot + MultiBeast Method

Boot failure solved. BIOS didn't explicitly label the SATA controller mode. It was hidden under the RAID controller setting, so apparently I hadn't set my BIOS to AHCI mode. It was in IDE mode. Once I changed it, Snow Leopard installed fine with a nice big green check mark. Lesson learned...

Help with Asus EN GTX 460 TOP 1Gb

What did you mean when you said run the KEXT utility? I performed every step you listed except that one (because I didn't know what that was) and I'm still stick at 1024x768 on my EVGA nVidia GeForce GTX 480 card. Note: I'm pretty much Mac-illiterate, so I apologize in advance.

Helpful New Edit to iBoot + MultiBeast Method

I got to the same point. Hardware: Intel Core i7 860 2.8GHz (quad) 1156; MSI Big Bang Trinergy P55+NF200; 500GB Seagate 7200RPM SATA3, 4GB 1333MHz ram (12GB removed), nVidia GeForce GTX 480, Blu-Ray optical drive SATA3. I get to the same point: MAC Framework successfully initialized using...
