Thanks for the response. I created a SSDT-EC.aml file using a script from Opencore and my exported DSDT, but I'll try this one out next. Crossing my fingers... I might have to give up and stick it out with Windows until I can afford some new hardware.

I just spent the day going the route of OpenCore. Was hoping this approach would yeild results, but the error on boot is exactly, the same. I also tried to do an install with Mojave, received a similar error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I seem to be having the same issue with my gtx 280... I'm loaded into 10.8 right now, and oddly the system reads my card as a GT430, but as soon as I try to boot to my 10.8.2 install, or 10.8.2 partition, I get the same results as you. Looking for a kext now to support the card.

There's that, and as I understand it, the original EFI on the machine is likely 32-bit, whereas a newer system's EFI would be 64-bit. I've heard of other people having issues on some machines with this... usually fixed with a firmware update

Hmm... it maybe something else then. Have you tried going into verbose mode to see what the errors are? There are a couple of threads here about the install stopping after the [pciconfiguration] line, and ways a few ppl have gotten around it.

I had the same issue. I don't know how good this method is, but I figured it was a graphics issue and deleted all the NVidia/GT related kexts. Afterwards I was able to do the full install, but am now stuck at 1024x768
