BTW this happens to me, I can boot into MacOS, but I can't boot into my Ubuntu on another drive. But it happens to me when I try to reinstall Ubuntu.
Ubuntu NOT MATTER WHAT I DO overwrites the EFI for OC. So I always have to reserve it, but I cannot for the life of me get the dual boot to work...
33.8 % better Vega 64 with these recent changes...but the fan NEVER goes down, so, um, maybe not :)
I am still stumped on OC dual boot. Ubuntu keeps wanting to put stuff on the OC EFI. OC doesn't see it. I put these same files on the EFI on the Ubuntu SSD and nope, OC doesn't see it.
Is there...
Same issue...using the VEGA causes my system to not boot to the display, the GPU fans go crazy and I have to remote into my machine to disable it and reboot.
Sorry I was not clear @ModMike your miniguide was very clear. I followed it and I have poor results. If I check that VEGA 64 aml my system will not boot with a display. So something is different. What I am asking is how you generated that aml so I could try to generate one for my GPU and see...
hello////
Do you think you can elaborate a little @ModMike on how/what needs to be done to generate a SSDT-VEGA-64.aml? I have an Asus version, and your SSDT-VEGA-64.aml caused my Desktop to not show anything on the display via DP and all messed up on HDMI. But it is booting because I can...
OK jumper rest BIOS, set it back up per your guide, and still, no NVRAM file appears and shutdown/restart from finder do not work.
I did F11 at the clover screen to reset NVRAM, nothing changed. How is this possible?
So a couple of ideas:
I had filed clover updates where I realized I was...
OK removed my folder, put your new one on EFI.
The machine is booting, things are ok, but the shutdown/restart are not working still from Finder (from terminal it works)
So this is what is odd: the NVRAM file doesn't exist on my EFI partition. I have rebooted a few times and it isn't...
And now...don't know what changed (I didn't change anything) and shutdown/restart do not work in finder. They work from terminal sudo shutdown -h now for example works.
I am using the exact EFI and BIOS settings listing in post one for the Vega 64. The only difference is my GPU is a ASUS...
Chiming in here; made the same build with a couple of small variations. I have a different GPU but also Vega 64 based. I used an i9 and I set the system to 19.1. I only have GeekBench 5 and it measures really differently than 4 did, so I cannot compare to the metrics in the first post. I am...
Maybe all this effort we put into Hackintosh can go into making Ubuntu or one of the other distros as slick and easy to use as MacOS ;)
The bottom line for me is I use Ubuntu about half the time and MacOS the other half. For me Ubuntu has come a long way...but still lacks the finesse and ease...
I read these things and it makes me laugh:
Apple could stop us in a second if they wanted, they haven't and they likely won't.
Why? Mac is about 10% of revenue these days. It is far more likely they will just stop making Macs and focus on mobile platforms which make them the bulk of their...
I'm 45. I wrote my first code when I was very young on a TRS-80. I wrote code to make money in high school. I had an internship my freshman year of college working with Oracle and the 1.0 version of MS Access connecting to Oracle on a VAX. I was the first and second WWW conferences talking about...
I have no idea why this is so hard and why so many of the guides are just wrong, at the least in my case. It might be because clover has changed or APFS is making it strange or who knows....
1 - none of the guides seem to mention that clover will tell you why it is not matching the custom...
In case this helps anyone else, given I don't think these ASRock boards are even on sale anywhere anymore. I had a hard time finding a CPU for to 1150 socket!
Here is my setup
ASrock z97e-itx/ac
Intel Core i7-4790
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini
DisplayPort to a Dell UltraSharp UP3216Q
Audio...
Thanks! I wondered about those being duplicates. I read this entire thread (looong) and I am wondering do you know why some people see big swings in the Power Gadget CPU and people like me do not? I am wondering if there is a way to check that the system is attempting to manage power but cannot...
