If installing in single channel, then the problem is not ram and there is no need for ram definitions on SMBIOS. According to the verbose on attachment..maybe its the "ACPI" section of config.plist you should be looking at. If possible, can you try my latest/updated EFI attached here and just...

I want to confirm that YES, dual channel with only 2 ram sticks works. Just put definations for ram slots "0" and "2" as on below attachments.

I was thinking of doing that tonight...just configure for 2 ram slots and also just using "smbios trust" =false, and see whether it will detect ram info automatically. I will report back with an hour as i install my new cooler

Am using latest bios from asus.com..see attachment. But i actually got it sorted by editing config.plist with my specific ram type, speed and size. But most importantly, i toggled smbios trust from 'true' to "false" and now my triple-boot works perfectly

I filled all 4 ram slots = 16gb but only 2 were us able by sierra. Then this morning I researched online and finally had everything working :) I edited config.plist ... See attachments

Tested ram dual channel set up with only 2 ram sticks, high sierra boots up halfway and then automatically reboots. It's a fail, so far... Only other option on this mobo, is to use all 4 ram slots with 4 sticks.

Same mobo+cpu and high sierra working flawlessly on my triple-boot (Debian9+osx+windows 10) hackintosh . Tonight, I intend to try switching ram to dual channel and report back. Initially, I would have it getting stuck at the ++++ point until I saw this thread about ram and dual channel problem...

My fresh install of High Sierra on the same mobo and cpu as you, is working without a hitch. Critical part was updating bios and do appropriate settings there. Note: virtualization is disabled by default. I can provide my efi/config if need be.
