Just in case anyone is still stuck, disabling FixShutdown worked for me.. I think that was the culprit that kept restarting my system after shutting down. Make sure you disable S4 and S5 in your BIOS if you've been trying so hard to get your backlit keyboard+mouse to turn off when shutting down...
