Unfortunately, I didn't keep this computer and I ended up selling it, so I can't be of any further help. I never tried to get sound running on it so have no idea... It seems really strange to me that an external USB sound card would also have dropouts. Very strange.

I never solved it and have since given up on it and moved to another system. See Terse451's response above, which included some useful tips to try.

Unfortunately, I don't have any further advice. I documented it as thoroughly as I could above. Try starting from scratch (reset the BIOS to its factory defaults, then make all the changes recommended). Make sure you're using a USB2 flash drive in a USB2 port (not USB3). That's all I can think of...

Update: a different USB drive fixed it (I believe). The old USB drive was a USB3 drive, while the new one that worked was a USB2 drive (I believe). Both were plugged into USB2 ports at all times, though. I also went back through the instructions, specifically, those listed in this other thread...

Not sure. I'm a layperson with Hackintoshes so may not be of much help. But looking at the log, it looks like either something USB or Firewire is tripping it up. You might try going into the BIOS and checking if there are any options with the USB handling...

I have a different motherboard (ASRock) but had the same symptom yesterday. The solution for me was to enable "FixOwnership" in the Clover config.plist. See my thread here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capitan-desktop-support/191288-hang-apple-logo.html No idea if it will solve your problem...
