    UHD 620 - i7 Kaby Lake R - HDMI Flickering

Update: When disabling Thunderbolt in bios, I'm able to get steady HDMI signal to my external monitor - flicker free! However, by doing so I lose my second external monitor which is connected to the laptop via USB-C (DP). I would really appreciate any tips.

    UHD 620 - i7 Kaby Lake R - HDMI Flickering

Hi all, I recently got my Gen 3 Lenovo Yoga X1 up and running with Monterey. Disclaimer: I used an EFI folder for the same model laptop I found on GitHub (Type 20LE). Everything is working beautifully, including wifi, BT, sound, etc. It's perfect! The only issue I'm having is the HDMI...

Yoga X1 3rd Gen - Freezing at installation screen

Thanks for all the tips and support. I got really frustrated with the slow performance making it difficult to do anything. I decided to google around and came across a github repo from a person with the exact same laptop (type 20LE) with the EFI folder. I did a straight copy/paste of the EFI...

Yoga X1 3rd Gen - Freezing at installation screen

Alright. I concluded the SSD was the problem. For some reason the installer didn't like it. I swapped out the Samsung for a WD and have successfully installed Monterey installed. I need to figure out a few things though: - graphics are choppy - no sound - overall performance is kind of slow

Yoga X1 3rd Gen - Freezing at installation screen

Well, I managed to get it to load the installer without freezing. However, when I try to format the SSD with APFS filesystem, it locks up every single time on "creating APFS Volume". Am I limited to APFS filesystem?

Yoga X1 3rd Gen - Freezing at installation screen

Hi all, After a lot of reading, searching, trying different things I finally managed to get 12.4 on a USB stick and using OpenCore (latest version) to configure the config.plist file. I followed the directions on the OpenCore site for my 8th gen processor. I'm finally able to boot into the...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

WOW. Thank you! It worked! The method I was using to create the installation media was wrong. I followed your link and tried with the createinstallmedia method, and it worked perfectly! Spotlight works fine, and the drive shows up with the correct icon. Everything is working beautifully. I...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

To be honest I don't even know what my intention was. I was following various guides and tried to do it on my own before reaching out for help. I believe HFS. Wondering why my drive shows up as "Logical Volume Disk". Is that normal? Is this why the icon is a folder and spotlight isn't working...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Update: I managed to get it installed, but experiencing some weirdness. What I did different was: Used EasyMBR to create USB Installer (same as before) Used Clover Configurator to open EFI partition (same as before) Copied over my Mojave EFI folder (same as before) Installed Clover (same as...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Yes, 100% the installation finished. It reached the screen that shows the restart button with a 10 second countdown timer. I did notice clicking the restart button didn't do anything, but the auto-restart worked fine when the countdown hit zero. Also, I've now tried 10.15.5, 10.15.6 and...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Alright, reinstalled Catalina using the same EFI folder. Formatted the partition as APFS via Disk Utility during Catalina installation. Doing this causes the boot to fail much earlier in the process, and I can't seem to find much when I search up the errors. Maybe something in the bios needs...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Yes - I used the files on this git repo (for the most part) for Mojave. All worked fairly well, but I did need to update some kexts for the trackpad and audio to work smoothly. If I try to install Catalina and manually format the drive with Disk Utility prior to install, it still installs...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

So I've been testing Mojave since Tuesday and it runs pretty much flawlessly. Sound works great now too after changing the layout with Clover Configurator. I decided to try Catalina again with the exact same configuration, but no matter what I end up with the same errors. It installs just...

    Sounds only from headphone jack

Hi all, I gave up trying to get Catalina installed on my Lenovo X1 Yoga (1st generation), and instead decided to get Mojave going. Everything seems to be working fine except audio. I've got a wifi chip on order as well. The problem with audio is that it only works with headphones. The...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

While I was banging my head on the table I thought maybe it's worthwhile trying to see if Mojave installs with the same configuration in Clover. Sure enough, got Mojave up an running without a hitch (although sound doesn't work, though the volume slider shows up fine). I'm still curious as to...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Thanks for the reply. The drive is a Samsung mznty256HDHP-000L7. I am able to boot into Single User. I'm not really to sure how to obtain the entire bootlog. I can get into Single User - are the logs you're referring to in /System/Logs? I've been away from messing with this stuff for about 6-7...

X1 Yoga (1st Gen) post install error

Hi all, I finally (after lots of googling and trial and error) got Catalina installed on my Yoga X1 using the latest release of Clover. The machine attempts to boot, but hangs on the following error: com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] Any ideas on how I can tackle this? It feels so close yet so far.

    Mini / Fanless Hack?

I'll start by saying that I've been out of the Hackintosh scene for about 4 years now. I successfully built 2 very functional machines after researching compatible components, and have since sold both machines (parted). I'm currently working on a Macbook Pro provided by work, but since I...
