I switched out the IntelThermal.kext plugin for IntelCPUMonitor.kext and everything seems to be OK. CPU 1 is down around 40° C as I write this. It looks like Spotlight was working pretty hard to index my SSD... that probably accounts for the high temps.

Serial number might be an issue... my SMBios.plist has a serial number I scavenged from my old Power Mac G4 tower (like the one in my avatar :lol: ). I'll try that next!

I don't understand your suggestion. How do I "buy osx lion from lion itself" when I don't have Lion anywhere? I tried pressing the Option key in the App Store when I hit the Buy Now button and got the same result.
