Not gonna work because I dont need just the files, I need the system to continue my work ..there's audio plugins and bunch of other stuff that won't even work in newer versions of macOS
I guess I'll just have to dive into that. Appreciate your effort.
Yup that's the one. I already tried unplugging the Nvidia card and connected my monitor to the iGPU...but then boot was unsuccessful ...plus the image aspect ratio was even wrong in Clover's bootloader GUI. ...my expertise in this stuf is limited so I probably have to open like gazillion more...
yeah I’ll be forgetting it I guess :(
now I’m stuck with this build for quite a while because there’s stuff on there that’ll need months if not years for me to work on and finish.
….unless I find the solution how to boot Catalina on this existing build without buying another gfx card
I hope I did not mess anything by trying this.
Thing is, I cannot install all the plugins and audio stuff I have on there, as some of it is not even supported past Catalina (My Hackintosh is still High Sierra) ...i was really hoping to make it work somehow :(
That's exactly what I did...it is show in the Disk utiliy but when I reboot and try to buut the OS from it it did not work, as i described in my first post...I am not sure is it possible to make it work...the only message i get is "unable to verify Mac OS installation" or something along those...
what do you mean by that?
Maybe I wasn't clear on what I'm trying to do... i decided to sell my hackintosh hardware and just use my MacBook...for now. The thing is I am in the middle of some audio work on the Hackintosh and I'd like to continue working on it seamlessly (or as seamless as...
Hi everyone, not sure am I in the right forum section....so if I'm not, please direct me to the right one.
And I am also not sure is it possible to execute my idea, so please hear me out.
Is it possible to boot my Hackintoshs' SSD from external drive on my MacBook?
Sorry if it sounds insane...
This sounds promising, and it definitely would work for me, as I won't be needing to use graphics apps on this computer, at least not for a while.
I will check out the thread you linked....hopefully I can make it work using my integrated graphics.
..ooops, nevermind guys... I just browsed the forum more extensively (probably should have done it first) and saw GTX 970 is not suported on Catalina :(
that's a bummer...so I'm aparently gonna have to sell it, and I was soooo diapointed when I saw it goes for only $100?? I think I paid like...
Yes, I know it's already 2023 and Ventura is out, but I like my Mac OS's a few years seasoned :D
Long story short, I finally upgraded from using a Firewire audio interface and thus I need to move to Catalina, plus I wanna use Sidecar with my iPad.
So I just bought a new SSD (they seem to have...
I read every post in this thread and searched half of the Internet but still wasn't able to find a solution. It's a desktop computer, but I'm just hijacking this thread now. Since I upgraded from Yosemite to High Sierra, my GPU got significantly louder for some reason, even when no apps are...
There's no flickering, as I mentioned before, everything looks and feels fine, and the web driver is indeed selected and active. The only real issue is I constantly hear the fans, they sound the same way as they sounded when I was e.g. rendering a video in Yosemite.
I installed the web driver. I am not sure is it functioning properly though (everything looks and feels fine, except this issue with fans). Is there a way to check if hardware acceleration is working as intended?
I just upgraded from Yosemite to High Sierra. Seems like I managed to get the system working smoothly, except for a few issues, one of which is the noise coming from the graphics card.
It seems like the fans are constantly working at full speed (or going up and down in speed all the time). I...
Thanks for all the help. I will tackle this audio issue later, but as for preliminary googling it seems there are no drivers for High Sierra for the M-Audio Projectmix sound card / control surface...which is a huge issue for me, but we will leave that for another day.
@cmn699
Thanks so much for all the help. I managed to successfully install the Nvidia web driver following your suggestions.
BUT the problems continue. It seems now my FireWire card is caussing issues. I have an external sound card / midi control surface which is plugged into the FireWire...
@veames I used the backup ssd with working Yosemite installation, mounted the efi from the new HS installation with Disk Utility and just pasted the APFS file where it belongs.
