Coffeelake Z370 OpenCore Panic Fault CR2

It works! Thank you so much! One more questions: should I turn on RebuildAppleMemoryMap as well, or turn on only EnableWriteUnprotector? The OpenCore install guide says: while it's not clear if Z370 is counted as a "newer platform".

Coffeelake Z370 OpenCore Panic Fault CR2

Hi, I am reinstalling macos on my coffeelake desktop today and trying to use the OpenCore for the first time. This setup was successfully running with Clover for long time without any issue. But it cannot boot up with OpenCore USB and got kernel panic showing Fault CR2: 0xffffff80167b529e. A...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Intel QSV is working on my system either in standalone or with my Nvidia (shikigva=56), but I want to use the dedicated GPU to do video acceleration for better performance. Nvidia is not supported natively, but may be working for encoding in Adobe with a little hack. I am just wondering if...

In Clover Configuration, check if you have "Rename HDAS to HDEF" patch in Acpi and Inject Audio = 1. Copy the latest version of AppleALC.text into EFI/CLover/kexts/Other. That's all you need.

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Back to the USB-C ports topic, I read through this post https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/how-to-build-your-own-imac-pro-successful-build-extended-guide.229353/ . According to its section E.9.2.6, a MB SSDT having ASMedia controller PCI implementation seems to be better to use the USB-C ports...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Enabling or disabling iGPU does not enable Nvidia CUDA hardware acceleration. Tried shiki bit 2 as well, with VDADecoderChecker, QuickTime, IINA and Adobe Media Encoder (CUDA and Metal). From what I've read around, iGPU has to be on, so I suspect macOS now can only use Intel QSV to do hardware...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@pastrychef For hardware video decoding/encoding, is Intel iGPU used or the Radeon/Nvidia card? I feel it is iGPU 630 doing the work, but is there a way to use my Nvidia card since it's much more powerful?

I think SSDT should include red ports as well with connector type set to 9 or 10, as the other post shows, but I don't know how to code it since it's under RP05 instead of XCH14. It's even harder to read the full ACPI specs...maybe just leave it there.

[Guide] Creating a Custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext

Hi @RehabMan Following your guide and this post I created SSDT-USB attached for Asus Z370-E. It works well with USBInjectAll.kext and XHCI-300-series-injector.kext, with only one problem: USB drives on USB3.1 Gen 2 (Red Type A or Type C ports) always got "Disk Not Ejected Properly" error...

    pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

@pastrychef With SSDT-USB I still got "Disk Not Ejected Properly" error notification at wake up, if USB drive is plugged into USB3.1 Gen 2 (Red Type A or Type C), but no error with regular USB3.1 Gen1 port (Blue). USB3.1 Gen 2 devices are under RP05 in IOReg. Do you have same issue and do you...

    macOS 10.13.4 Update

For Intel UHD 630 flickering problem on my coffeelake 8700k, I changed to iMac Pro 1,1 definition instead of iMac 18,1. It also works.

Please help: 8700k UHD 630 does not work with two 4k monitors

I just got two Dell U2718Q 4k monitors and try to use them with my 8700k hackintosh, via DP + HDMI. According to UHD 630 specs, it should support 4k@60Hz with DP and 4k@30Hz with HDMI, and it does work under Windows 10 but not with hackintosh. If macOS starts with the DP monitor alone, 4k is...

    Hardware Encoding Support

MacX shows Hardware Encoding Supported: Yes (screen shot attached), but when converting a 4K H.264 Mp4 to 1080p, CPU usage went above 1000% for the MacX process, exactly the same as what Adobe or Handbrake did. Is it real hardware encoding or just fake info? Confused...

    [SUCCESS] ThinkServer TS140 - i3 4330 - HD4600 - Yosemite - Clover

And another little problem keeps annoying me is the HL-DT-ST DVD writer. The drive is polled and doing self-testing every 5-10 minutes. Every time it lasts for 5 seconds, with front LED turned on and some noise, exactly the same behavior as when the computer powered on. But the drive works...

    [SUCCESS] ThinkServer TS140 - i3 4330 - HD4600 - Yosemite - Clover

It's been long time since my installation, so memory blurred, but here are some clues. For Intel graphics you need FakePCIID.kext and FakePCIID_Intel_HD_Graphics.kext. References: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Fake-PCI-ID...
