I have my GA-Z370N-i8600K-RX560-based Hackintosh running Mojave rock solid since Oct 2018 mostly due to this thread.
Seen some tinkering and suffering in some posts on the thread mentioning issues with Catalina.
Is it still a hard one to get? I use the machine for production so I prefer to...
6850 is not supported anymore, same for Z68X Intel integrated graphics, but the rest should work fine.
A good cost competitive replacement may be Radeon RX 560, or even 570 (there were some crazy sales on black friday on this one). They are highly compatible, normally needing just...
There is a USB2 and USB3 header in the Mobo. I understand the USB3 header, which is connected to Front Panel normally, is not mapped by the SSDT and that is OK. Is that the case with the USB2 header as well?
@Natural can you confirm you use the Cooler Master RGB Controller and it retains the setup you do on Windows upon rebooting to Mac and it keeps it then? Not optimal but still acceptable for me.
Considering equiping my Z68X-UD3H-B3 build with BCM94360CS2 + PCI-E adapter for native Bluetooth (not caring for Wifi, continuity, etc I use Android) but mostly for Bluetooth keyboard on BIOS and Clover menu to swap to Windows when needed (a gaming daughter who uses MacOS to do artistic stuff...
@b166ar, one question regarding USB ports and hubs.
Currently I am using a 4-port USB-3 Hub connected to one of the ports in the back. Zero issues. The hub is totally capable of supporting USB sticks, mouse, webcams and portable Hard drives.
I am considering adding a second-hub. SHould I be...
It is indeed a stupid installer the Windows 10 one. I am keeping all separate, Mac on NVMe drive and Windows on a SSD. Had to resort to disconnect all drives and the NVMe and let only the windows drive in. Then I followed the instructions on using diskpart from within the Windows installation...
I did remove the M.2 drive and then run the installer again, used diskpart to clean the Windows drive, create the EFI partition and then hit next on installing Windows on the Unallocated space, then it worked well. So, removing all addtional drives is actually mandatory. Tks @ThrasherOSX and...
Here the steps I am taking and the errors I am facing
I have GA-Z370N, no drives connected, just a M.2 NVMe with Mojave+Clover and a blank SSD as the single SATA drive on the mobo;
CSM is enabled on BIOS
I boot the Windows USB installer using F12 and get to the initial installer screen...
Will do @b166ar. I am now battling the installation of Windows properly (following the UEFI Multiboot on separate drives from here, and geez how that windows installer is a bad thing).
As for putting all the Kexts on /L/E: any advantages over letting them sit there on /EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other ?
And, end of the (brief but intense) drama.
The culprit was ... me (of course).
After some research (tks Tomshardware forums!) I decided to check both the thermal paste on my processor and if there was something wrong with the pins on the socket and ... voilà. See those two crooked guys on...
This is Intel Extreme Tuning Tool on Windows, during a stress test, showing Frequency never goes above 0.8Ghz … with 99% utilization, Temps of 32Celsius and it is indicating Thermal Throttling. At 32C!
Seems I got some bad hardware. I will still try to reinstall the CPU cooler and thermal...
So I went on and installed Windows to see if the bad performance could be anyway related to OS X settings, etc. Got the same poor results. Unfortunately for me this riding is pointing towards the nightmare of brand new expensive hardware having with problems.
Looking in BIOS for the CPU temp...
So, I deleted all of those listed from /L/E. Monted the /EFI just in case and then replaced it again with yours. Run kextcache by
sudo kextcache -i /
Then :/
I am attaching the results of Essentials script after that.
Just to recap what I did (perhaps that is what messed up) I installed Clover with Multibeast initially (chosing the options needed for my setup), then upon booting on the hard disk (via USB), mounted EFI and replaced the EFI folder with your and rebooted again (should be fine, right?) Wanted...
