Replacing GTX 970 with RX 580

I ended up buying a Sapphire RX580. When booting up, my secondary display is black and there are glitches on the screen, but I put it to sleep and then wake it up and it's fine... Not perfect, but it's solid now.

AMD RX 580 - Any brand is fine?

It won't go past Clover with the XFX RX 580 in, so I did the install with my 1050ti.

AMD RX 580 - Any brand is fine?

I tried 14,2 & now 18,3 & yeah igpu's been disabled for years. I'm going to try to talk the guy at the local computer store to swap for a different RX 580

AMD RX 580 - Any brand is fine?

I've been working on this all weekend and when I found your post this morning I had hope! But it didn't work for me. Can I ask what Kexts you're running and what port you're using on your card (If I have anything plugged into a displayport, it won't even get to my bios)?

Replacing GTX 970 with RX 580

I tried your suggestions with same result. I found a thread that said to roll back the card bios. Tried that, but didn't help. After I did Ploddles suggestion it goes to black at the halfway mark of the apple boot progress bar. I read XFX's are harder to get running. Wish I'd checked into...

Replacing GTX 970 with RX 580

Alright, I've been running through this thread over and over and even went off on several side tracks trying anything that seemed possible... Here's my story. I've been using a 1050ti, but wanted something my system would recognize and let me run acceleration and last but not least I dual boot...

Could not Get EL Cap Install USB to Boot on GA-Z77X-UP5 - partially solved

To bump up an old post, I feel I should add in what causes my El Capitan hackintosh to do this. If I reboot the system with any of my external usb drives plugged in, I get the error. Once I realize I have the external drive(s) plugged in, I can reboot and it comes back perfectly.

    How to Fix iMessage

I got the Customer care#, double checked all my stuff and sucked it up and called Apple. I explained that I'd bought my desktop on ebay during the summer and that imessage had never worked on it, but didn't worry about it. Then around Christmas I bought a macbook pro and iphone (I actually did...

Post your SSD benchmarks using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test

Crucial CT480M 500MB (Known as SSD Video 1) Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (on a SATA 3 connection also) Crucial CT500MX200 (M-SATA 500GB) Really surprised by this one, because it's sustained rates transfer rates (forget at the moment) are always higher than when I transfer between the other 2 SSD...

    GA-Z77-D upgrade (mostly) succesful!

Ok, I re-downloaded the file and started from scratch and as I got stuck I would paste my errors into this windows to post for you. As I scanned down to see what info it had in it, I kept finding error messages that made sense to me and I just went along fixing 3 or 4 of them until it finally...

    GA-Z77-D upgrade (mostly) succesful!

Thanks, sorry I didn't realize I'd listed my motherboard under the wrong section. So, I've tried everything I can find on the forums to try to get my sound working and I'm resigned to wait for Multibeast (that's what I used successfully with Yosemite). I ran the CloverALC110 script, but...

    GA-Z77-D upgrade (mostly) succesful!

It only took 3 days to update to El Capitan! Think it was over a week to get Yosemite working, so I would call than an improvement. Notes: I followed the official Tonymac instructions I used superduper to clone my system drive. Instead of a clean install I had it update my cloned system...
