I agree with your comment regarding case ventilation but I never like to see a standard ATX PSU thrown into the bottom of a G5 case, to me, airflow should be from the front of the case to the rear. in this build the hot air generated inside the PSU is being blown out of the front of the case...

It looks like you have an air circulation issue. The air being drawn in at the front could be being sucked into the PSU via it's large 120mm fan then the hot air is being blown out at the front where it is sucked back in via the front fans creating an 'air short circuit' I realise this build...

Bravo for being brave and installing the PSU components inside the Apple PSU enclosure, this is in my opinion the best solution when modding the G5 case. The stock (or replacement silent) fans are more than adequate for cooling the components as it maintains the back-to-front isolated cooling...

Yes, but with my motherboard an Asus H97M-E the board keeps the USB 5v supply on all of the time. Like others I shorted my Play-e button so that as soon as the board sees 5v on start-up it chimes but as the 5v is still live when the machine is shut down it does not chime on subsequent re-starts...
