I have not tried to install El Capitan on 4520s and since this is a guide for only Yosemite i do not know what might be wrong but i have a few guesses.
It might be that you need to patch the El Capitan version of the HDAudio, usually you will have to find either a prepatched version or a clover...
yes but that is kind of a given, since without a bootloader it will never boot, i just put up the minimum amount of stuff you need to do AFTER you have a bootloader installed.
Then the minimum steps to take (by removing graphics drivers, save them for later use tho):
Remove (or move to desktop):
AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext
AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext
And install:
FakeSMC.kext
VoodooPS2Controller.kext (for mouse).
Do note that the AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext's are needed...
Mine came with it.
Edit: i do not know exactly when i bought the 4520s but i think it was back in 2009 or 2010.
but i have only done ram and ssd upgrade on it nothing else.
It should fix the issue, but you also need a patched and working DSDT.
You also need the replace the AppleIntelHDGraphics.kext and AppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext with the ones you can find over here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/286092-guide-1st-generation-intel-hd-graphics-qeci/
and...
Its easier to use a Tool for it but its also possible to manually copy the kexts to "/System/Library/Extensions" and then fix permissions and clear cache.
You can use any kext utility just aslong as they drop the kexts in s/l/e so it is also possible to use kextbeast from tonymacx86. Just...
did you also do the clover settings correctly? the DSDT patching dosent fix the graphics or sound, it only helps out with those problems, but the clover settings are suppose to fix the sound and graphics and sleep mode. but then again you might have a slightly different laptop and then none of...
Sounds like you have not installed the graphics card correctly.
Either you download the patched .kexts or use my guides way and inject the information during boot with clover.
As for voodooHDA it is possible to solve it with injecting during boot with clover aswell but you might have to figure...
Sadly maps do not work for me, i have not bothered with that either since i do not use it.
But it might be that its 1st gen intel graphics and since it is not compatible with unmodified apple drivers.
"YES in Clover on EFI" do you mean you have only done it when you installed clover with EFI...
I get the feeling you have not read the guide fully since you should NOT have to use any other kexts than the HackAppleIntelHDGraphics.kext, HackAppleIntelHDGraphicsFB.kext, DummyHDA.kext and ProBookARPT.kext and you should NOT restart your computer from steps 9.2 to 9.5 since during this you...
When i later switched to clover in the guide i only used the FakeSMC.kext and VoodooPS2Controller.kext, i skipped the GenericUSBXHCI.kext
And i use clover in legacy mode since you disabled UEFI in BIOS you can not install clover with UEFI.
Hence the installation instructions in my guide for how...
Did you follow the instructions in pre-installation?
I used unibeast to boot the installation never used clover for that part.
Also you can try to set different BIOS settings since that might help in booting.
Try:
UEFI: off
HP DayStarter: off
HP QuickLook: off
Preboot Authentication on HP...
I just thought it was easier to keep all the patches i applied (yours and the ones that you helped me create) in one repository and only keep the 4520s valid patches in my repository, if you want me to remove your patches i can do so and only keep the ones i have created with your help in my...
I have renamed it in the .maciasl file, that is why i reffered to it as "Brightness fix (1st Gen I CPU)", but yes you are correct original name is "Brightness Fix (HD3000/HD4000)"
If you are using MacIASL the name should be "Brightness fix (1st Gen I CPU)" but if you are just looking at the github repository on the website its under "graphics/graphics_PNLF_ivy_sandy.txt"
Glad i could be to any use :) if you find any issues in the guide just point them out in the google docs (or here on the forum, but prefferably on google docs since i get instant notifications).
Also worth noting is that the guide still works on 10.10.3 (i updated from 10.10.2 without problems).
Im preparing a guide, just trying to figure out stuff so its easier to follow.
EDIT:
The guide is done, but im going to make a friend follow it since he also has the HP Probook 4520s to fix the small typos and questions that might occour.
