Hm... Thanks for the info. I'd have to deal with RAM upgrade that way as well. Thinking it might be cheaper all told to just have one shipped from the states where they seem to be much more plentiful and inexpensive.
Looking to buy one of these to upgrade from my HP 8300, but they seem to be far more expensive in Europe... anyone have any leads on where to buy one? France, specifically, though it doesn't really matter. I would need an i7 Minitower as it's for video and graphics work. Thanks so much.
For what it's worth I have a 8300 SFF with i7, 16GB RAM and a 1050ti that I use almost exclusively for professional video editing and light effects work. Haven't had a single issue with it other than low download speeds on account of a cheap wifi adaptor.
Few caveats though: I work in Avid...
Thanks for the info. I actually still haven't made the jump to High Sierra, so I'm still on 10.12.6
I wonder if I'll still be able to directly upgrade...
Thanks again.
I will definitely try it out and report back. Thanks for your help. I actually just use two monitors, but I can always use more GPU power because I use the machine for professional video editing and a lot of FX/Coloring work.
Thanks! I'll check it out. Looks like he was running into power issues... Do you think the power supply in a 8300 SFF would be able to handle it under a heavy load?
I posted this elsewhere, so apologies for the cross-post, but wondering if anyone has tried any of the Quadro cards. I'm looking specifically at the P1000. Hypothetically they should work, but wanted to see if anyone had tried it before dropping the money.
Thanks so much!
I have that adapter. It works pretty well. Sometimes gets a little bit flaky with a Magic Mouse, but it's usually a positioning issue. Other than that, no problems with it.
I do not, because I have rarely if ever had the need--have a project coming up in Avid though, so I'll report back on that.
If and when I have to do something in FCPX I'll let you know as well, but I doubt that will ever happen as most everyone in the professional environment avoids it like...
Apologies for the delay... just saw this. Haven't had to use Davinci yet but Running AfterEffects and Premiere fairly well. I did little work in Resolve and it seemed to be running totally fine. Not breaking speed records but gets the job done--can't report too fully but I haven't run into any...
I posted this over in the Post Installation forum, but didn't have any luck, was wondering if anyone has run into the same problem.
I have the EDUP wifi dongle, and it works fine, but the thing is it stalls out when downloading large files at around 10Mb. Have tried everything I can think of...
For anyone having troubles with low volume after installing VoodooHDA 2.9.0 and Apple HDADisabler...
First thing I did was buy this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0018DK9TA/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
Which worked, but seemed to reset the USB 2.0 buses every hour or so, disconnecting bluetooth etc...
Thanks again for the guide. Incredibly helpful.
Just wanted to share an alternate option for a dual boot system that seems to have worked fairly well for me and doesn't require a Windows computer.
1. Install macOS according to guide.
2. Make Windows bootable USB with Bootcamp Assistant in...
I'm also having a problem where after it wakes up from sleep, the external HDs disconnect from USB... can't seem to figure out the issue. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it if so. Anyone having the same problem? Thanks.
Thanks. To be honest, I don't really need the extra USB ports... So if I got this one instead:
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00GO7DZUA/?tag=tonymacx8607-21
Would I be able to use and SSD in there if it were connected to the Sata2 port? Or would I be limited to using HDDs??
