If I don't have nv_disable=1 when I boot, my monitor loses connection before the screen is fully booted, and if I have that flag, then my screen freezes before I get a chance to install the web drivers. I'm stuck :(
So Yosemite ended up installing fine, I just had to partition the hard drive correctly. When installing Windows/Linux, normally you select the hard drive first and then you partition, but in this case it was the other way around.
