Guess what?
Now I changed my SMBIOS to Mac Pro 6,1 and the computer is still able to boot and use the Nvidia Web Driver. SO, my conclusion is this Gigabyte motherboard, AGDPFix doesn't work, OR the earlier config.plist that I was using from your guide was a problem
In any event, I THINK now...
For what it's worth, I reset my system to use SMBIOS iMac 14,2 and I cannot see any difference in performance or features.
Geekbench scores are within 1 percent, and probably due to variation
Same USB ports work or don't work
Sleep/wake still works either way
Sure, it would be great to get...
What about using iMac 17,1 is inadequate? What am I going to lose? Previously I was using 14,1 on the same hardware with Sierra and was getting very excellent results with high-end video editing applications. What is the advantage of using MacPro 6,1?
Hi KGP,
I am happy to report that changing to SMBIOS iMac17,1 resolved my issues with the Nvidia card. In addition, it also made the sound work. Here are the exact changes I made from the original "recipe"
Installed NVWebDriverLibValFix.kext to /Library/Extensions
Installed LATEST...
Hi again,
I am trying to get an Nvidia GeForce GTX980 Ti to work with a Gigabyte GA-X99P-SLI motherboard and the Nvidia Web Driver. I get the black screen all the time at the end of boot. I am using the Clover Configuration you suggested (with SMBIOS device set to MacPro 6,1). I have tried...
Hi,
I have 6 HackPros based on the GIGABYTE GA-X99P-SLI. Last year, I reported to you that your guide for Sierra was great, and I made a few suggestions for improving it.
I have just gone through your guide for a clean install of High Sierra and it is also excellent. The only place where I...
Hi,
I have been experimenting with KGP's awesome guide for setting up X99-based systems (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/the-perfect-customac-pro-x99-a-ii-i7-6950x-128gb-g-skill-tridentz-aorus-gtx-1080-ti-xtreme.211621/ This guide really should be given top billing on TonyMac because it's...
Hi, KGP,
Thanks for your reply to my previous post.
I have another curious question. I made a Clonezilla image of my OS Disk and restored it to another disk that is inside a Gigabyte X99-based system. (BTW, Clonezilla a a Hackintosher's beset friend. I make clones every time I get...
Hello,
Your guide is EXCELLENT. Thank you. I have Sierra 10.12.4 running on an ASROCK X99 Extreme 4/3.1. Running like a charm -- all 10 CPU cores, with Nvidia 980 graphics card. Getting amazing Geekbench scores. Can't wait to run it with Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, etc.
One...
Hi Robinqu,
Hi,
I followed your instructions exactly (except with an ASROCK X99 Extreme4,3.1 motherboard (3.1 is USB 3.1). I have this running great with 6-core CPU and El Capitan using the following approach...
Hi emdirector,
I suggest you take a look at this thread:

Follow the instructions exactly and you should be up and running very quickly, at...
Hi Damnsoul,
I don't know if you saw my post above, but I was able to get past the memory error by booting up in a live Linux distro and then rebooting, or booting up with the Windows 10 installer and bailing out after it asked me to partition the disk. I think both of these actions reset...
Hi Jonisign,
I tried the Yosemite installation that you referred to -- I followed the steps exactly. It appears I'm able to get past all the CPU issues. I get past PCI configuration begin and end. However, the installation gets stuck at this error:
[PCI Configuration end, bridges 5...
Hi Jonisign,
Which 10.9.5 PCI kexts are you referring to? I have many real Macs in my office still running 10.9.5 so presumably I can take them from there.
What's the procedure used for installing 10.10.5 on the X99 motherboards? Do you have a good one? And what's the right procedure for...
To all the smart people who monitor this forum, I ask if any of you has an idea about how I can solve the following problem:
I used the excellent instructions posted by tomtomx86...
Nope, that didn't work either . Still seeing the AppleKeyStore line where the boot up freezes. Although it's not clear whether that's what fails, or it's the TSC part that is next failing. I'm wondering if I should just try without VoodooTSCSync?
Update: Doesn't work without VoodooTSCSync...
Hi Thomas,
I think you misread my last email. I didn't delete /Library/Extensions. I only "touched" it. Many posts on the web suggest that's all you need to do to make the kextcache rebuild, but I didn't run "kextcache --update-volume" , so perhaps what's happening is that I am loading the...
Hi tomtomx86,
Can you look at my post above? #12 in this thread.. I don't want to spam this list and post it twice but I think you answered my previous question yesterday just as I was posting a new one, and our conversation is now "out of order" and you may have missed my last question...
Hi tomtomx86,
A couple of days ago you wrote to me: the twelve cores should be no problem.
You would simply have to edit the file Contents/Info.plist inside the VoodooTSCSync.kext
and change the value for "IOCPUNumber" to 23.
(That value begins at zero for one core)
I tried that but OS X...
