I'm glad you posted this - I was holding off for the i7 version of the new Broadwell NUC for my next Hack.
Obviously the new Macbook means BW support is inevitable. My concern was with the soldered Wifi/Bluetooth chip. Are you planning on using an external for that?

I have considered the Brix before, however I've heard a lot of people saying that the machines are loud and prone to overheating.
I do agree that on paper it looks like a much better fit for a Hack through.
