Put in a AREZ Radeon RX550 graphics card. Booted with both onboard vga and the 550 DVI card connected. Boot and clover process' showed on the vga but not the DVI monitor. When Mojave was completely loaded it showed on both the VGA and DVD monitors. Went into the bios and turned off the internal...
As I've searched through the forums, I did find a number of blank screen issues. With a problem that is this widespread, I expect the WhateverGreen team is probably already working on it. I will download and test new WhateverGreen.kext as they become available.
Perhaps the best solution is to find a better Coffee Lake LGA 1151 motherboard where the onboard dvi, hdmi, network, audio and the rest is compatible with the current WhateverGreen.kext and AppleACL.kext for a Mojave installation. If I could contribute anything to this forum it would be a basic...
I tried a hdmi cable and monitor. Got the same result. After it shows the clover screen, it automatically starts the Mojave load with the apple splash screen and status bar. Bar goes to about 55% and the screen goes blank. Mojave still completes loading but all the video outputs are dead except...
Cmn699:
Adjusted the Bios to your recommendations. Put lilu.kext, AppleALC.kext, and WhateverGreen.kext in EFI/CLOVER/kext/other of boot partition. Also reinstalled lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext using KextBeast to /Library/Extensions. The AppleALC.kext was installed by KextBeast yesterday...
Cmn699: Ok great, working on your comments.
All the kext files including lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext are in /Library/Extensions. From your post, it looks like I should copy both of these .kext files to the EFI/CLOVER/kext/Other as well. I assume this is just a copy of these 2 kext files...
Amazing: The audio is working. For the much, much less tech savvy among us. Here is exactly what I did following CaseySJ instructions. Repeated here:
(CaseySJ)Regarding audio:
AppleALC supports ALC887. Have you tried the latest, version 1.3.4: https://github.com/acidanthera/AppleALC/releases...
I've been able to get the system up and running with the following 2 issues: The DVI output does not work (have not checked the HDVI) but VGA does, and secondly, the audio does not work. It looks like the WhateverGreen.kext does not yet address either of these specific the video or audio issues...
CaseySJ: I got it to work. I've not done much testing yet but, for now it works. Without your assistance and the assistance of cmn669, this never would have happened. In particular, your build instructions at https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...nare-z390-thunderbolt-3-with-i7-9700k.267551/...
If I try to boot the Install from Mojave, the screen shows 13-14 minutes remaining and then panics. As I recall, it shows the same kernel panic messages but I'll have to recheck. Right now I'm following the thread you suggested of...
Tried these alternatives. Same result. I'm going back to the very start and rebuild the USB installer from scratch and then implement the suggestions above and give it one last try. Mojave is an order of magnitude more difficult that my prior Mavericks and Sierra installations.
I've now done 4 different install tries using every combination of the 2 config.plist files provided above and the XHCI-unsupported.kext and xhci-300-series-injector.kext. All of these failed at the same point: 2 minutes or less remaining of the copy of the install files from the usb disk to the...
I can't thank the community members enough that have taken the time to help me with my build.
In answer to cmm699:
After it reboots it does go to Clover Boot Manager (CBM) 4674 and shows 3 drive/partition options External (Boot macOS Install from Install macOS Mojave), HFS (Boot macOS...
The XHCI-300-series-injector.kext no longer exists in the download OS-X-USB-Inject-All-master.zip (and everywhere I searched, the results always pointed back to this same zip file). So per your suggestion I installed XHCI-unsupported.kext to EFI/CLOVER/kext/Other and rebooted. Same result, it...
Thank you. Will retry using APFS as you suggest. All my kext are the latest version as posted on this site. I do not have XHCI-300-series-injector.kext installed. Will find and install.
This is my third Hackintosh build. The first two (Mavericks and Sierra) took a bit to figure out but worked eventually. This one has got me at a dead stop. Following exactly the recommended budget ATX purchase and the install guide for Mojave this is what I've got so far:
At step 4 (all prior...
