Was there any consensus as to what the best screen for the 4540s (i3 with HD4000 only) was? I've read through this thread, but wasn't quite sure what would be most recommended. Btw the support on this site is fantastic, really appreciate it.

Thanks for the advice nguyenmac, it worded out well and only hit one bump; upon restart the HP bios came up and claimed I had no operating system oddly. Just exited though that and it booted as normal. I've since restarted and it hasn't reappeared. Thanks for the help!

Worked like a charm, I had a quick scare when the HP bios popped up telling me I had no operating system (?! Never had that happen) but excited though that and the system booted as normal. Rebooted and didn't get the bios message, just booted correctly. Thanks for the help on this .

Im currently running OS X 10.10.3 on my ProBook 4540s. I'd like to update to 10.10.4, but I'm having some trouble getting the app store to work. Does anyone know if theres a way to update to the latest version over USB without doing a clean install? Many thanks

wstrohm might now be experiencing the same issue. I'm thinking it seems like the first time they requested the update it worked, but not the second time, spinning gear. It was working the first time for me as well, until I canceled and when I went in later that day all this started...

I'm in a similar situation with my ProBook 4540s thats using clover. I went to update this morning, but had to cancel. Went back later and while I can press update, it never starts just the gear spinning in the top left, the checking for update gear is spinning as well. I've let it go for hours...

When I attempted to update clover configurator I input: diskutil list mkdir /Volumes/EFI sudo mount -t msdos /dev/disk0s2 /Volumes/EFI and got back "resource busy" any input would me much appreciated, thanks

Was having the same problem, but like you was able to toggle the described setting in system preferences. Does it stay this way for you and save the change? I find I have to go back in on start up and sometimes after sleep and turn it off again.

Think I did that but maybe not so if I do everything again as if I was on Mavericks will that work even though Im on Yosemite now? It only shows for a second and other than that just about everything works (Don't have any notification center widgets) soI don't want to mess anything up haha

I followed the guide on how to update an already working mavericks copy a few days ago and didn't get that fix I guess

So I accidentally deleted all the tools and such like kext wizard. Any suggestions to get them back? edit: nvm got the important ones back
