Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

Thank you for sharing your experience, could you please advise, are there any other changes required to the OpenCore config beyond SMBIOS change? I mean, if I take my existing configuration and adjust it with new SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 and new serials, would it work out of the box, or, there some...

Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

I don't like that video playback significantly consumes CPU power without iGPU, this is probably because of SMBIOS iMac15,1 I am reading on the internet that it is possible to set iMacPro1,1 SMBIOS which only has dGPU, maybe in this case it would work better, can you suggest?

Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

I bought it used, the seller claimed the firmware was never changed but I don't have any proofs, is there something I can verify to make sure I have a legit GPU?

Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

This adjustment didn't help either... still getting the same error P.S. when I disable iGPU in BIOS I can successfully boot with RX 580 and it works fine, as I previously mentioned I can also boot successfully with iGPU only, but when both enabled I am getting this error (see attachment)

Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

Ok, so I just did that, successfully installed Catalina so I can boot from my SSD with iGPU only, however, when I inserted RX 580, changed BIOS to use dGPU for display, and set Platform ID to 04001204 (headless) it failed to boot with the same error as before. Any other suggestions?

Open Core fresh installation to boot with iGPU HD 4600 and RX 580

Thank you for your reply, basically, you are recommending to do the installation with iGPU only (desktop platform id), and after success insert RX 580 and adjust Open Core config with a headless iGPU platfrom id. Is it correct?

<< Solved >> Boot failed with Intel HD 4600 and Radeon RX 580

Hi all, I wanted to report back about my issue after trying various things including OC bootloader. Just to summarize, the original issue was that I wasn't able to boot into macOS without added Device Properties for iGPU (Intel HD 4600), when I did, I was able to boot into the system, however...

<< Solved >> Boot failed with Intel HD 4600 and Radeon RX 580

@jaymonkey I've been testing a little bit more and it doesn't seem that the issue specifically with Chrome. From what I observe system UI is freezing at random, periodically I feel some micro-lags with the mouse cursor, sometimes it happens when I launch a new program, sometimes when I swipe...

<< Solved >> Boot failed with Intel HD 4600 and Radeon RX 580

@jaymonkey I have 32GB of RAM, so even though I had a lot of Chrome tabs opened I had at least 16 GB of free memory, so, I don't think this is a memory issue, it looks like something causes kernel_task to runaway and consume most of the CPU. But, I am not sure what exactly triggers that...

    nvm.e m2 ssd via pci-e adapter

I see, I was thinking about this upgrade with the goal to improve disk access speed, but in your case it seems to be not so different from the regular SATA connected SSD.

<< Solved >> Boot failed with Intel HD 4600 and Radeon RX 580

@jaymonkey apparently it doesn't work perfectly, it was running for quite a while with no issues, but today, when I opened a bunch of Chrome tabs system UI started to lag and freeze. kernel_task occupied most of the CPU resources and it looks like it was procrastinating, eventually, computer...
