NootRX worked well for me on a PowerColor 6750xt yesterday!
Sadly the card went back as it was doing some weird flashing (even at BIOS) and I'm pretty sure it was defective (or soon to be - Amazon Warehouse)
Back to my 6600XT for now
@Edhawk
I'm now on Sonoma 14.4.1 and all is working beautifully
I figured out my booting weirdness -- When installer progress would hang, I had to pull the USB stick out and put it into a different USB port and all continued as normal. Very odd. Maybe something in BIOS settings doing that...
Where should I start on instructions if I have BCM94360CS2 on Sonoma 14.4.1 ?
BT of course works, but I thought I'd spend some time tackling the WiFi situation (assuming it's still doable on latest Sonoma)
Totally understand that.
Sorry..
I honestly only posted in here because I have this exact build and it seems like everybody has moved on from Mojave and it's turned more into a "support for this build on more current macOS" thread.
Update: Got the Sonoma installer booting by pulling the USB...
@Edhawk
Your suggestion mirrors my intuition here
I’d rather go totally clean for a Ventura upgrade from Monterey
I gotta dig into why I can’t get the Sonoma installer to boot. I really want to test that first before I decide.
It’s interesting that betterdisplay is telling me I am getting 10...
Installed Ventura on my test drive and I’m getting 4K 120hz through HDM1 2.1 (both ends) with my LG C3 OLED
I’m just trying to decide between a direct upgrade of my Monterey install .. or a clean Ventura install and then a Time Machine restore
Any tips on changes to the EFI for Sonoma vs Ventura?
I can't get the Sonoma installer to boot using this working OpenCore 0.9.9 EFI I've been using for Ventura
(before deciding on Ventura vs Sonoma, I was now hoping to install Sonoma on my test NVMe)
So run the normal installer process and there's an "upgrade" or "keep my data" option?
Is that off USB stick or downloading a Ventura installer right onto your Monterey drive and running installer from there?
Big breakthrough folks!
Just did a clean install of Ventura 13.6.6 and with HDMI 2.1 out of my RX 6600 XT...
I'm getting 4k/120hz (YCBCR420 8Bit only though)!!!
But - for my needs, 8bit is fine and looks AMAZING on this OLED
I'm in hog heaven here .. I'm going to have to leave Monterey...
I'm trying to use this build (which I have nearly exactly) to install Ventura and/or Sonoma on a test NVMe
Had some weird issues so I'm resetting BIOS from scratch and all the guides for this Motherboard say to have Above 4G Decoding enabled -- any idea why it's not working for me?
I can't get...
Hi there!
I'm already using the iMacPro1,1 and iGPU disabled
All the attempts to try things that worked for some in SwitchResX failed for me so I'm going to test out Ventura and maybe Sonoma today on an extra NVMe stick I have.
In the past I had a Gigabyte M32U monitor that I successfully got...
you bring up a great point though… I wonder if I need to switch SMBIOS to maybe the Mac Pro, which could theoretically be hooked up to a high refresh rate display unlike the iMacPro SMBIOS I’m using.
Interesting
Maybe in my testing tomorrow, I will install a fresh copy of Monterey with a Mac...
4:4:4 pass through and Ultra Deep Color are both on, and I'm using the PC icon, yes
Still nothing re: HDR or 120hz though
I wonder if this is a Monterey issue
Here's what I'm showing
Also, just now I was able to turn on "Deep Color" on the LG side, which on the RX 580 causes No Signal issues and was a big pain when going back and forth to Windows for gaming and HDR, which would always turn on Deep Color
I'm surprised also based upon all the reports out there
But I've rebooted a few times and all continues great!
No luck on 120hz at 4k, however, with my LG C3 and a couple different HDMI 2.1 cables that are all rated for 4k/120hz+
Going to try a couple custom things w/ SwitchResX, but my plan...
UPDATE
My card arrived and I've confirmed that with:
PowerColor RX 6600 XT 8GB
Monterey 12.7.4
SMBIOS for iMacPro 1,1
I don't need WhateverGreen nor the agdpmod=pikera boot argument.
My only boot argument is for my Audio configuration and I'm booting right in, no black screens, no...
I'm trying to prepare for this today and I'm still confused
I'm on Monterey 12.7.4 and using iMacPro 1,1 SMBIOS
Do I need WhateverGreen and the agdpmod=pikera boot argument ?
or should I remove WEG and that boot argument?
Some posts online seem to say it's natively supported and that WE and...
