    Intel Core i7 4930k / ASUS Rampage iv extreme / Hackintosh 2.630€ / 3.570$

That board should work well. Shilohhh and Marco are giving good advice. X79 is not well-supported on this forum yet; changing to Gigabyte won't help with that, but both are good makes. Google. DK

You are getting an unknown CPU error, from the power mgmt subsystem. Try NullCPUPowerManagement.kext if it's not there already. David PS. emailed you as well

Both work. I certainly did not recommend switching, although I like both manufacturers. There just isn't much X79 support on this forum yet; you have to search around elsewhere. As to your last point: It almost never makes sense to build a hackpro for money savings alone. No matter how adept...

    Intel Core i7 4930k / ASUS Rampage iv extreme / Hackintosh 2.630€ / 3.570$

Marco, You don't have to patch the kernel. Patched kernel is posted out there, and information regarding how this will evolve under Mavericks 10.9.2, but this motherboard isn't a focus of these forums (focus is Gigabyte and non-beta software), so you'll have to look elsewhere. HTH David

ATI FirePro v7900; any experience or advice?

No... a long painful road for a few weeks. I ended up selling it since I decided to work mostly under OSX. Running dual GTX 670's now (which work well under OSX... might get 680's if performance were more an issue). I did get some interest from a much better hack developer, who helped me...

Ivy Bridge-E requires a patched kernel. I use Sandy Bridge, but I think this is the correct kernel: http://www.osx86.net/files/file/3606-109-ivy-bridge-e-atom-lapic-fix-kernel/ DK

Trick OSX into thinking that two monitors are actually one

Hmmm... Unaware of anything that does this for OSX. The converse problem is also useful to solve; split a large monitor into virtual monitors. I've only seen that done at the app level. Anyhow, on Windows and Linux some of the ATI cards have software that supports exactly what you want...

The Asus board you listed will work, and I believe also the Gigabyte (I have less knowledge there), but the resources (DSDTs) are not on this site. There are no DSDTs listed for X79 chipsets here, and we are not supposed to discuss other tools. As I said above, you should look around a...

    Mavericks on ASUS P6X58D-E + i7-950 + GTX 285

One quick observation: Since you already had a DSDT, the correct option in MultiBeast is "User DSDT". This will take a file named "DSDT.aml" on the Desktop and place it in your extra folder. Something you might try: -Copy DSDT.aml (the one that's been working) into /Extra -check your...

    Speed stepping 2011 socket

Yes, from what I've heard around the Internetz. I have not personally confirmed it, but have read several accounts. Also, I've heard that there are additional stock CPU descriptions in software that aren't released yet but will be when the new Mac Pro hits the streets, further increasing the...

    Professional HD (4K) video editing i7 4930K - GA-X79-UD5 - GTX 770 2GB issues?

No experience with that processor. Ivy Bridge-E will require a modded kernel from what I've found elsewhere, at least for now. Am watching the -E stuff for a possible future upgrade. I really like my X79 system personally. For your needs, I would recommend (as someone else did) paying a...

    Asus Sabertooth X79 - 4930k - 10.8.5

Erik, I replied also to Marcox4's thread... I didn't realize this was an Ivy Bridge-E processor. There are DSDTs for X79 boards out there (you will probably need one made for a fairly recent BIOS with the -E), and also (I believe) a modded kernel for Ivy Bridge-E. Google around for more...

    Intel Core i7 4930k / ASUS Rampage iv extreme / Hackintosh 2.630€ / 3.570$

You will need to look elsewhere (e.g. google) for DSDTs for some motherboards. E.g. the Rampage IV Extreme. Also for other X79 boards. There are a lot of motherboards out there and some sites support some boards and brands more extensively. This site is a good resource for Gigabyte...

    Intel Core i7 4930k / ASUS Rampage iv extreme / Hackintosh 2.630€ / 3.570$

Hi Marco, There is a patched kernel floating around for Ivy Bridge-E, and also DSDTs for that board, which function under 10.9 and 10.8.5. I have not personally tested as I am not on Ivy Bridge-E (but was curious, hence the info :)). I'm using a Xeon LGA2011 chip on a P9X79WS...
