FIX for boot hangs after BIOS update (ACPI PATCH)

Thanks for this, I bought an Asus Prime Z390-P to do a new hackintosh and had no idea why I was getting the error "apfs_module_start:1279: load: (etc.)" error when booting from the installer USB. I had done no BIOS updates prior. Again, thank you.

Guide: Multibooting UEFI on Separate Drives

Hi there, This is my second attempt at installing Linux Mint alongside Win10 and High Sierra this time with Linux Mint 19.1. I followed the steps to add the boot entry to the OSX EFI partition when installing Linux and the install seemed to go fine but Clover can't seem to boot Linux from the...

Mouse and keyboard will not respond until 5-10 minutes after boot

I took a different approach and swapped the GT210 for my Radeon 5770, which resolved the USB lag issue. This way I can keep the newer drivers, as I need optical SPDIF working.

Any word on compatibility with troubled XFX HD 5770 Cards?

I've had a couple issues crop up since my last post, which are, on startup the preBIOS screen (Amercan Megatrends logo page for example, I have an Asus board) will be garbled beyond use. If I hit the restart button it will come up correctly on the next boot. Sometimes, less frequently, the BIOS...

Any word on compatibility with troubled XFX HD 5770 Cards?

My 5770 is model 577A-ZNFR, and I chose the flashing method to fix my Lion issues. Used the XFX.HD5770.1024.090926 BIOS Rom as mentioned earlier in the thread. I used a bootable USB stick and ATIFlash method as this is considered safest. Ran into a snag where ATIFlash couldn't find the .bin file...

New Unified Realtek Onboard Audio Solution: ALC8xxHDA

I purchased 30 feet of cable today in order to build a copper SPDIF cable, just to find that only the optical (Toslink) connector is supported/active in 10.6.6 - while I do enjoy the pretty pretty light on the optical port :), the longest practical length of Toslink optical cable is 20 feet, and...

    CustoMac Mini Install Guide - GA-H55N-USB3 + GT 240

You can get limited functionality/resolution from the onboard integrated grphics if you remove one of apples' kexts from S/L/E, (apple integrated framebuffer kext? don't quote me!) see Tony's notes. But you will want to get a proper recommended card for full graphics functionality.

New Unified Realtek Onboard Audio Solution: ALC8xxHDA

889a %22encoded out%22 option.png Hey guys, been trying without success to get 5.1 surround through the optical digital port on an H55N-USB3 (892a), had some help from a developer of the mPlayer OSX app (thanks Hermi G!) and we discovered that the 892a can't currently provide "encoded digital...

    CustoMac Mini Install Guide - GA-H55N-USB3 + GT 240

I'll make my latest edit here at the top to save all the reading.. due to my graphics issues with this board I rebuilt the machine with the same components on the tried and trusted P55M-UD2 mobo, and after awhile I experienced the same blue screen on boot issue detailed below. As I was...

    Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter

Thanks for the clear instructions, I had this exact card for the longest time and never thought it could work in a hackintosh. Working perfectly in my H55N-USB3 (only one PCIe slot, but it is a headless NAS/server).

    pro audio "whine" [SOLVED]

Re: pro audio "whine" - apple audio update fix not working OK, I have isolated this problem a bit further, there was another layer to this problem which was causing havoc with my DVS (digital vinyl playback) system, which the Vcore fix was not addressing. The video card was the source. it was...

    pro audio "whine" [SOLVED]

Re: pro audio "whine" - apple audio update fix not working Funny I was thinking PSU might be a factor, as w00 posted earlier in the thread it seemed to be the issue for him. Good news about Vcore not disabling speedstep! Knowing that now, I am OK with that as a solution - I will hold off on...

    pro audio "whine" [SOLVED]

Re: pro audio "whine" - apple audio update fix not working OK I printed out all your BIOS settings and double checked, they were identical (I think I used your settings for the original build :D ) I switched all the advanced CPU settings on, and again any audio app would trigger the noise. I...

    pro audio "whine" [SOLVED]

Re: pro audio "whine" - apple audio update fix not working interesting. I'll tweak the BIOS etc first as per the previous posts and if that doesn't help I do have a new power supply that I can swap in and see what happens.
