New Apple Silicon Macs: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini

I picked up the Mac mini today at the Apple Store. I got the mini with 8GB of system ram and a 512GB SSD. My hackintosh runs nicely, but I have been noticing stuttering in scrolling web pages in my hack. The graphics on the mini look as good here as they do on my hack. I have only added a fresh...

Apple Previews macOS 11.0 Big Sur - Available Fall 2020

The reason for Hackintosh's existence, as far as I'm concerned, is the high price of Apple hardware computers. That's why I built this machine. Awhile back I decided to purchase a used MacBook Pro Mid 2012. I upgraded the hard drive to a 500GB SSD and 16 GB of system ram. From what I understand...

    Just Fab, Inc device enrollment

Okay, I could not find anything when I searched the computer. But I inspected the contents of the USB drive that I used to install Catalina and noticed in the EFI partition (a file inside clover that was a duplicate of one of the other files) except for additional text in asian language symbols...

    Just Fab, Inc device enrollment

I used UniBeast to create the installer. I formatted the USB just as always and during the installation (near the end of setup) I had a screen just after the network setup screen ask if I wanted "Just Fab, Inc." to remotely setup my computer! I'd never seen anything like that before. I will run...

    Just Fab, Inc device enrollment

So near the end of setup of a clean install of Catalina 10.15.3 a screen appeared asking for me to allow Just Fab, Inc., to remotely setup my computer. I tried to skip the screen, but I could not find a way around it. After becoming frustrated as I'd NEVER seen anything like this before from...

    Update Directly to macOS Catalina

This was by-far the toughest install ever. I've been hackingtoshing since El Capitan, but this one drove me cRaZy! The one thing I can say is I've learned a few things along the way to a successful install of Catalina 10.15.2. My advice? Walk away when you get frustrated; but NEVER give up. I've...

Can I copy a working hackintosh to my used MacBook Pro?

I am running High Sierra 10.13.6 hackintosh on my desktop PC. I like what I have there and wish to create a bootable copy to my recently acquired used Mid 2012 Non-retina MacBook Pro and replace the SSD in my MacBook Pro with the new drive copy. If I do this will it boot? Does it matter that the...

macOS Mojave Public Beta is Now Available

Reinstalled Mojave Beta 10.14 today after updating my High Sierra install to 10.13.6. I am now using an Audioquest Dragonfly Black V1.5 for audio on both systems. I dual boot. This install of Mojave Beta went better than the first. Now I have a request to update to Beta 3. Is it safe to update...

macOS Mojave Public Beta is Now Available

I installed Mac OS Mojave 10.14 Beta (18A326h) this morning. This Install was easier than High Sierra. It's post install where issues arise. Though I followed the tonymac instructions to a tee, I did not have a network connection. I tried several things, last being removing the USB drive I used...

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

Will the change from Intel to Apple Processors in 2020 also affect desktops? I am interested in a new build for a desktop hackintosh, but I am hearing that Apple is planning to move from Intel to its own processor. What does this mean for the hackintosh community? Thanks for your comments. Here...

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

10.13.3 is not stable on my machine. Thankfully, I cloned my 10.13.2 to another drive. I am using it till new display drivers come out. Perhaps that will solve my issues.

    macOS 10.13.3 Update

After updating from the App Store, I noticed the sound wasn't working. Worried since I had so much trouble achieving sound the first time with this motherboard. I proceeded to install the Nvidia driver (link found here on tonymacx86). After installing the Nvidia driver and rebooting my computer...

Would a soundcard be the better choice?

I don't know how exactly, but today I managed to get audio to work. I guess you could say persistence payed off. Most of the instructions are like reading greek. Confusing the way they are presented. I like step by step instructions, but it is difficult to follow most the way they are laid out...
