I won't be going through all the steps on how to prep your bootable flash drive and all that jazz, but you can find those steps here.
However, this will be more of a "this is how I did it and how it worked for me" guide.
***Make sure that you've updated your Mobo to the most recent BIOS...
WebShiver, do you have an update on your USB C quest? I'd be interested to hear what you found, I'm considering selling of my X99-UD4 for the X99P-SLI because of the USB C connection, since Gigabyte doesn't manufacture the GC-Thunderbolt 2 card anymore.
Let me know what you find!
Really interested in hearing what the progress is on these systems!
I have the X99-UD4, and I'm considering getting the X99P-SLI because of the USB 3.1 Type-C connector on board.
Does anyone know if there would be ay support for a GA-X99-UD4? I'm beginning to think I shouldn't have gone with an X99 platform...
Or should I just consider selling off my current board and go with something that is compatible with TB 3 and/or comes with TB 3. I've looked in the...
Yes, I'm guessing I would have to use a Gigabyte card. However they don't sell that card any more (discontinued), I've searched high and low and haven't been able to find a place that sells it. I've also been considering selling my current motherboard to get one that has Thunderbolt capability...
Does anyone know of any Thunderbolt add-in cards that will work with the Gigabyte X99-UD4?
I'm looking at this on Newegg and hoping this would give me Thunderbolt capability.
ASRock Add-On Card Model Thunderbolt 2 AIC
BoomR,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I was reading you were successful in getting an ASUS ThunderboltEX II-Dual card to work in you GA-Z77?? Just like B-San, I'm an audio guy myself and I'm considering purchasing one of the Apollo series interfaces, but they run on thunderbolt, and...
Well....after giving that a try on a clean install still not working. However, I did read an old article somewhere saying that this was an issue with the X99-UD4 specifically. So, with that being said I will not stop trying to get 10.11.1 to work on my Hackintosh.
Would it be a good idea to go...
lokicat,Would you be able to post your config.plist so that I can compare it to mine?
I'm beginning to think that a clean install of 10.11.1 might do the trick.
Edited the config.plist and removed kext-dev-mode=1 from the boot added nvda_drv=1, in the Nvidia control panel I switched to the Web Drivers. Went to boot in verbose and got this image.
Not sure if this helps you, but it's there for someone that can.
Thanks for helping me out with this!
Boot Flags: npci=0x3000 kext-dev-mode=1
symbios: MacPro6,1
However I will boot up and not put the display to sleep with the boot flags changed to npci=0x2000 nv_disable=1 and -v.
Side note, it will boot without -v being a boot flag. I'm only putting there to make sure it's not getting hung...
Thanks!
Did what the guide said verbatim, went to reboot and it failed. I had to reboot without kernel caches, then I ended up stuck here in boot up.
Tried rebooting again and the same issue as original post.:banghead:
I've been able to successfully install on my X99-UD4 with a 5930K and GTX970. The only issue I'm having is when the boot up is finished my monitor goes into sleep mode and I have no output from the GTX 970. I can boot from the install flash drive with no issues. Is there a work around for this...
Good news for x99 10.11
I was able to install 10.11 on a spare drive, but every time I want to boot up I have to have the install drive plugged into a USB port. Even at that it still won't boot with my custom config.plist, would someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong. This is my...
I have GTX 970 as well and it took me a bit of tinkering around with different Web Drivers from Nvidia to get it right. Just a tip, be sure to "Reset Disk Permissions" after you install the driver for them to fully work, also if you use any kernel flags to get your 970 to work make sure you add...
Hey all,
I have a question for you. I'm running an X99-UD4 with a 5930K and a GTX970, and I'm looking to purchase the Thunderbolt add in card that Gigabyte makes and I'm wanting to know if it's worth the $50 or so to buy it. I'm looking into purchasing some Pro Audio gear and it requires...
I'm running a similar build the only difference is I have the 5930K, GTX 970, and 32gb of G Skill 2133mhz. My build is stable and solid, my only recommendation is that if you want to use the Apple Wireless mouse and Keyboard and also want Handoff and Continuity to work I would choose this Wifi...
Are you going to use the 670 as your main card or are you going to go with something newer? As for booting try using the boot flags "npci_0x2000 GraphicsEnabler=No -f -x -v" (without the quotes). If this still doesn't work try adding to the flags "nv_disable=1". Just as a heads up if you do get...
