You were right in using the top DVI-I port. However the apple DVI to VGA converter is not an "active" adapter and hence the signal does not get transferred to your monitor from your hackintosh.
Either connect a DVI cable directly to your monitor and hackintosh, or use a different adapter.

Gibba works fine when I typed it in previously at Chimera bootload, but DVD player still crashes on startup and the above stated still appears. I will try PCIRootUID=1 when I have the chance. I don't think it is in my com.apple.Boot.plist file.
Do you mean installing drivers from Multibeast? I've done that, but I'll probably go through your steps again when I attempt to reinstall Mac on my system build this evening after I knock off work :P
