Unable to boot from USB drive and install

try booting into verbose mode - that usually gives some sort of clue as to what is hanging up your installation. I think you can do that by pressing the spacebar. If not, you need to add a boot argument, which I think is under the boot options menu item. you need to add -v to set verbose mode...

Unable to boot from USB drive and install

My bad. I formatted the install destination SSD as APFS, not the USB stick. I'm glad that the GUID Partition Map solved your problem. That's exactly what I ran into.

Unable to boot from USB drive and install

Double-check your USB drive format. I thought I did it correctly as well - I needed to go to View -> Show All Devices and then be sure to format the entire USB stick using APFS. I mistakenly only reformatted the partition that was there by default. Make sure it is also set to GUID Partition Map...

[Solved] macOS could not be installed on your computer...installer resources error

I went through so many things trying to figure out why I kept getting this "macOS cannot be installed" message. Eventually I ran the startosinstall command from Terminal and found out through an error message on the terminal that I needed an active internet connection to install macOS. If you...

<< Solved >> USB Stick Does Not Reach Clover Installer

Yep. It needed to be the GUID scheme. I had it set up as MBR, which was the default for some reason and the instructions don't say anything about checking on that. The screenshot attached to the instructions shows it, but apparently I only read and not look at screenshots! Thanks for the help!

<< Solved >> USB Stick Does Not Reach Clover Installer

What is the partition scheme supposed to be? The UniBeast part of the installation guide explicitly mentions MacOS Extended (Journaled) but it doesn't say anything about the partition scheme. If there's a particular one, it may be helpful to call it out. I assumed I didn't need to change...

<< Solved >> USB Stick Does Not Reach Clover Installer

I tried a 16GB stick and it will not boot either.

<< Solved >> USB Stick Does Not Reach Clover Installer

Hi everyone, I have kind of a weird problem that I've never run into before. My USB stick shows up as a boot device in the BIOS. I select it, then it never gets to Clover. It's as if the drive is blank. The drive is definitely not blank - it's a bootable stick created with the instructions on...

Upgrade MB & CPU (Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI, 9700k, Vega64)

Does everything seem to be working? I just bought the same motherboard and can't seem to boot from my USB installer stick. It's recognized, but won't do anything else.

    Introducing the macOS Mojave Critter!

I kinda think it looks like an ocean-colored Schnauzer with a white snout. But yes, totally cute.

Fixing no Admin accounts in High Sierra

I was working on a High Sierra hackintosh for a friend and he somehow managed to change his own account to a standard account and was left without an administrator account. I followed this recommendation (single user mode, delete the setupDone file), but would run into errors saying the disk...

[Solved] No network access after waking from sleep with High Sierra

Thanks for this information - I'm working on a build with a GA-Z270X-UD3 and this was driving me crazy. I used the newest version (2.3) of the IntelMausiethernet.kext and the network connection works as it should after waking from sleep. I had used the AppleIntelE1000 at first, which would lose...

Downloaded High Sierra Installer from MAS but not right size?

I can confirm that this solved my problem as well. At first I would only get a 15MB version which Unibeast wouldn't use. After I did all of the OS updates then the download option in the mac app store looked different and I was able to download the whole 4.8GB installer.

    [Updated] wildwillow's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC - i7-4770K - HD4600+GT 640

I'm not an expert with Windows 10 by any means, but I do believe that you must install Windows using/with/on (I'm not sure of the right term here) a UEFI partition for Clover to detect it. I had Windows 7 on an EFI partition, so this was my option. For Windows 7 there are some procedures out...

    R9 270 problem

What amount of memory are you expecting to see on your R9 270? I have an R9 270X and it only has 2GB of onboard RAM. Also, if you're looking for your system RAM, that won't be on the menu option you attached the screenshot of. You need to go down two more headings to "memory" and you should see...

    [Updated] wildwillow's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC - i7-4770K - HD4600+GT 640

I think this is what's going on with me. I ended up making sure that my Windows drive was second in the boot order, so instead of using Clover to boot it, I exit Clover and it boots Windows as the next option.

    [Updated] wildwillow's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC - i7-4770K - HD4600+GT 640

this is great news! I'll have to try it out this weekend. Now if I can just figure out why some programs crash (Photoshop, Firefox) when I try to open a file chooser I'll be all set! Anyone have this problem before?

ASRock H97M Pro4 - Turn Sleep Off, when come back to computer needs to restart

I'm having the same problem with a Gigabyte Z87-OC Force mobo. It seems to have started out of nowhere. I should also mention I'm using El Capitan 10.11.2 (and using Clover).

    Sleep doesn't work

For anyone who may dig up this thread in a search, the cause of my auto-wake was the Corsair H80i USB cable. I set up the options using Windows, then unplugged the cable the next time I restarted. Voila - no more sleep problems.

    [Updated] wildwillow's Haswell Build: GA-Z87X-OC - i7-4770K - HD4600+GT 640

So I got a chance to try a third monitor. As long as I have two monitors connected to the R9 270X and one connected to the integrated graphics (with the integrated set to initial output in the BIOS), everything works great! I get all three monitors, sleep/wake works, and I have a huge work space...
