Possible to Install Mountain Lion on Mac Pro 2,1?

Why would you have a TonyMac build on genuine Apple hardware?

    Upgrading My Prossesor

Upgrading My Processor It's a Socket 775 motherboard. The CPU you have in it is about the fastest 775 processor you're likely to find. They've been obsolete for 3-4 years though. The last 775's were released back in 2008. It is NOT a Xeon as you list however. You'll probably need to buy a...

    Mac Pro 3,1 GPU Upgrades?

Reviving an old thread... I've just scored a Mac Pro 3,1 and was going to put my EVGA GTX670 card into it. Now, EVGA make a UEFI BIOS available on request. My issue is, if I either a) Boot the card into Windows using Bootcamp or, b) Put it back into a regular PC, is this going to cause...

    [WORKING] GA-Z77-D3H + i5 3570k + HD4000

Isn't FakeSMC necessary for things to work correctly? I'm booting from an SSD and things mostly work ok, although the system often still doesn't wake from sleep correctly.

    GA-Z77-D3H DSDT for 10.8

Fantastic, thanks very much! Is this with or without the working USB drivers that turned up? (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2042) Disabling USB is not a great solution given that it removes the ability to use a keyboard/mouse. Or do you mean disabling just USB3? FWIW I'm...

    GA-Z77-D3H DSDT for 10.8

The DSDT works with F18 insomuch as it doesn't seem to cause issues. I've found that sleep is a bit hit & miss though, sometimes it works fine, sometimes it wakes up again almost straight away, and sometimes it won't wake up properly at all. What other kexts are people using? (FakeSMC...

    GA-Z77-D3H DSDT for 10.8

Interestingly, Gigabyte no longer list any BIOS other than the new F18 version that has just popped up on their site. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4140&dl=1#bios Anyone able to adapt the DSDT to suit?

[PARTIAL SUCCESS] GA-Z77-D3H Sound on MT 10.8 Project (VIA 2021)

I tried the other DSDT that I was using (found elsewhere on this forum) and sleep/wake works perfectly for me on F14 here (but no VIA audio), I've attached it in case there's something useful in there for you. I don't believe he'd altered anything much other than fixing general DSDT errors.

[PARTIAL SUCCESS] GA-Z77-D3H Sound on MT 10.8 Project (VIA 2021)

That USB patch is fantastic, thanks for finding that one! I'm having sleep issues with the DSDT on F14, the machine sleeps fine but reboots on wake-up. Now, I've been messing around with a lot of kexts the last couple of days so it may be caused by something else. Anyone else on F14 who can...

[PARTIAL SUCCESS] GA-Z77-D3H Sound on MT 10.8 Project (VIA 2021)

Well, correction, I _had_ the Voodoo 2021 kext working, I got home, found that my machine wouldn't wake from sleep, and then kernel-panicked due to audio errors. Removed Voodoo and all is okay again. Looks like it's very hit & miss. I think a "proper" solution will be the better bet by far...

[PARTIAL SUCCESS] GA-Z77-D3H Sound on MT 10.8 Project (VIA 2021)

The VoodooHDA VTA2021 kext from MultiBeast 5.0.2 enables 2 digital outputs, 4 analog outputs and 2 analog inputs in SysPrefs when used with this DSDT. Very good. I haven't done much testing beyond confirming that front-audio output works and it seems stable so far. I won't be much help...

Post your benchmarks - Unigine Heaven!

Here's mine, the fact that I'm using a USB audio device seems to make very little difference thankfully. I think this benchmark might be hitting a cap somewhere as my GPU fan didn't really change from it's usual barely-audible idle speed.

[PARTIAL SUCCESS] GA-Z77-D3H Sound on MT 10.8 Project (VIA 2021)

Confirmed working perfectly on the F14 BIOS. Great work! My system is now complete, it's perfectly stable, sleep & wake works, audio works, graphics performance is good. Very pleased!

    GA-Z77-D3H + GTX 6x0 Build

Check they're set as AHCI not SATA, IDE or RAID.

My luck with the GTX 560 so far (freezes from time to time)

I found that I had to set my system (with a 670, not a 560 so YMMV) to MacPro 3,1 or I'd get all sorts of wierd lockups, 4,1 and 5,1 would often not boot and the MacBook Pro settings would give the wierd lockups, generally as soon as any "intensive" GPU stuff started happening (playing a video...

    GA-Z77-D3H + GTX 6x0 Build

Looks like this board is fairly friendly. Create Unibeast bootstick. Install the OS onto an AHCI drive, plugged into the 3GB/sec SATA port (6GB/sec supposedly has issues) - I used an onboard mSATA module which has a 3GB/sec interface and works perfectly. Install Mountain Lion - for some...

Stuck at white screen while installing Mountain Lion [NEED HELP]

Is that after the bootmenu or is it not even getting that far? If it's after the bootmenu, then try putting in a -v to get more boot details and hopefully something obvious.

Success with Ivy CPU and GA-Z77-DS3H

Pretty sure people people with non-K CPU's won't have such an easy time as the GMA2500 graphics that the non-K's have isn't supported OOTB. (Feel free to correct me though)

    10.8 & GTX6x0

Thanks for the Multibeast settings. From what I've seen, you should be able to set GraphicsEnabler=No with the GTX6x0 chipset and potentially gain a little performance. Any use/benefit of the FakeSMC Nvidia plugins, or is that mostly just for GPUs without native support?
