    USB 3.0 Mountain Lion Issues

I'm stuck at Mountain Lion 10.8.5 because I'm a Pro Tools TDM user and 10.3.10 is not supported in Mavericks or Yosemite. It's been pretty much rock solid, but I'm having trouble with a Seagate 4TB USB 3.0 drive (1JFAP1-500 4TB). The drive mounts, and reads ok, but writes to the drive either...

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

Is it possible to overwrite Chimera with Clover? I'm stuck at Mountain Lion for compatibility with Pro Tools 10. I have a pretty old motherboard, with a DSDT file, if that helps.

Chimera text-spinner suddenly hangs (at about '|' or '/') with presence of internal time machine dri

I've been having this problem on and off for a few years. Something goes wrong with my Time Machine internal drive. Last few times, I reformatted that drive, but the Single Scan Drive solution is working for me and much better than reformatting and copying 2 TB of data for no good reason...

    Pro Tools HD3 PCI-X

obsolete |ˌäbsəˈlēt| adjective 1 no longer produced or used; out of date: Ok, so maybe its still used by a few folks (like me!) who drive 16 year old clunkers. But... The board is 4 years old and discontinued, LGA 1156 processors have been discontinued for over a year. There are three...

    OS X 10.8.5 Update

Article: OS X 10.8.5 Update Pretty much went exactly as above, from a working 10.8.4 system, except: 4. didn't do this, just left it in there and re-installed with MultiBeast 5.5.2 before Restart 5. didn't do this either, no problems that I know of 7. Realtek ALC889 with DSDT, Trim Enabler...

    Pro Tools HD3 PCI-X

Pro Tools conventional PCI cards are full-length 32-bit, 33 MHz cards. They're not really PCI-X (64-bit, 66 MHz) other than size. They have a section of the edge connector that sits outside a conventional PCI slot, but its not used and doesn't affect anything. Some folks used to cut it off...

    No ML 10.8 support for GA-H55 USB3

Sorry to hear that. I had problems with audio at first, but with 10.8.2, I used MultiBeast with DSDT (before Restart after first install) and that failed. But MultiBeast without DSDT did the trick. When I updated from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4, I used the Combo updater, and ran MultiBeast *after*...

    Pro Tools HD3 PCI-X

Thanks! I don't see a DSDT for that mobo, would that be a problem? I see some other threads with folks building HD systems with it. I'll try to read up on it.

    Pro Tools HD3 PCI-X

I have a working CustoMac running a Pro Tools HD3 Accel PCI-X system with OSX 10.8.4 and Pro Tools 10 HD version 10.3.6. Everything works, but the GA-H55-USB3 is obsolete. I'm considering upgrading to an Ivy Bridge system. Problem is, its very time-consuming looking for a modern mobo with...

    No ML 10.8 support for GA-H55 USB3

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact version of UniBeast I used. It was back in February 2013 and I installed OSX 10.8.2 using the exact method described here on TonyMac with DSDT. I had a working Snow Leopard system drive 10.6.8. I tried using Migration Assistant (or whatever they call it...

    No ML 10.8 support for GA-H55 USB3

I think that's the only thing we're doing differently. My mobo revision is 2.0, and my firmware is F7 (which I updated from F6). Try using the DSDT for your firmware: http://www.tonymacx86.com/11-dsdt-database.html I had all kinds of problems back in the Snow Leopard days with USB...

    No ML 10.8 support for GA-H55 USB3

I have OSX 10.8.4 installed on a GA-H55-USB3 with *everything* working. In fact, I updated from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4 with the combo updater. After that I used MultiBeast 5.4.2 to install the ALC889 with DSDT, and re-enable TRIM with the 10.8.3+ TRIM patch. USB 3.0 still worked from an earlier...

    Pro Tools HD2 PCI compatibility

As it turns out, the Intel DH77KC and the Foxconn Z68A-S both have a PCIe-PCI bridge, no good for Pro Tools. http://downloadmirror.intel.com/20952/eng/dh77kc_TechProdSpec02.pdf However, in another thread, DBP mentions a Gigabyte GA-P75-D3P which has native PCI support, four...

Need PCI slots instead of PCI-E - plz recommend me a mobo

PMFJI 2 months later, but the Avid trade-in program was a complete rip-off. $1500 per card to convert from PCI to PCIe, with virtually identical DSP power. The situation is a lot different now, with Pro Tools HDX, but if you have a so-called "legacy" PCI system, $2k will get you a smokin'...

    Pro Tools HD2 PCI compatibility

This thread made me curious. I have an HD3 PCI running very well on a GA-H55-USB3, but its old (SATA 3G). I took a look on Newegg for 3+ PCI slot mobos, and many of them (Asus) have non-adjacent slots :-(. There's plenty of info here on TonyMac about the Jetway boards, so that's a...

No. I'm using all five by the cards, and the two on the side. The cables barely fit between the cards, but it works.

    10.8.2 MIDI Issues?

Half a year later, I ran into this exact problem trying to get USB 3.0 working. I got the dreaded "MIDI Server can't be opened" message, and it was causing Pro Tools 10 to take ten minutes to launch. I looked all over the DUC and found nothing. I should have come here first! BTW, the...

Does ProTools 10.3 actually REQUIRE Nehalem (4,1) definition?

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and Pro Tools 10.3.3 HD is running perfectly. My system definition is the MultiBeast default Mac Pro 3,1. I had a couple of issues going from Snow Leopard 10.6.8, mostly due to Migration Assistant pulling in some buggy preference files...

    Hackintosh and Pro Tools

I've been around almost as long as BoomR; my first rig was a 4ch NuBus system in a Mac IIci. The upgrade paths to Mix, HD and Accel were reasonable, but the PCI to PCIe "cross-grade" was insane. $4500 for a 3-PCIe card swap. Or keep the PCI's and shell out $2k for a Magma boat anchor. Plus...
