    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

There must be tens of millions of families with students who rely on their laptops for school work, and who very likely have older laptops, and may not be able to afford new ones. Hopefully by the time of Win10 support expiration, MS is shamed into backing down from the 8th-gen or better...

I've had pretty good luck with Gigabyte support. have you opened a ticket on their website? they will probably advise you on the range of repair costs depending on the problem as you describe it to them. I assume you're not in the US, but I would try an amazon search on "Gigabyte Z390". you...

Blurry FaceTime: this probably isn't helpful, but prior to Catalina I used a legacy Firewire iSight camera (the one that was supported above the display by a flexible gooseneck). Prior to Mojave, it worked great. However, beginning with Mojave, the video was low-resolution in FaceTime but was...

If you want to stay with a Gigabyte Z390, the cheapest version that I see on Amazon's US site is the Gigabyte Z390 UD, at $109. It doesn't have onboard Thunderbolt. It looks like it has 4 memory slots, 1 Ethernet port, 6 rear USB3 ports, and 1 each internal USB3 and USB2 header.

in my experience the largest contributor to interference with BT is USB3. I have a NUC hackintosh that I use a BT dongle with, and I have had to use a USB extension cable to locate the BT dongle a couple of feet from the NUC. obviously with the Fenvi card providing BT this isn't an option, but...

@CaseySJ at the outset of this news about enabling AppleVTD, was there also mention of a modded BIOS? I've lost track of that. what were the purported benefits of the mods? also, IIRC you were looking for a volunteer with an apple TB monitor to test the BIOS. did that test ever take place...

it would be very interesting if someone had 4-4gb memory modules, to see if the issue is related to having 16Gb total installed, rather than the number of modules/speed installed.

@CaseySJ have you tried with just a single 16Gb module?

I assume you mean you get the prohibited symbol after you choose your Mojave drive from the boot picker and the boot tries to commence. did CFG lock revert to enabled? that is one cause of the prohibited symbol when trying to boot into OS X. if CFG lock is disabled and still the same symptom...

With my Alpine Ridge card, I have had better luck with the V1 and V2 firmware (by Elias) than with the V3 (NATA). I saw the caution about reported problems. But, if it were me, I would try both V1 and V2.

I don't have any Antelope (or other audio) hardware, but I've been following the messages here from many hackintoshers who have spent boatloads of money on hardware that the vendor chooses not to adequately support. I will offer a suggestion. this approach has worked for me a couple of times...

thanks for taking a look at my question. when connected to a MacBook Pro, the display works properly after wake from sleep. on the Aorus pro, unplugging/replugging the display doesn't bring back the USB ports. as I said, I have an acceptable workaround. thanks

I know that Apple TB displays aren't supported here, but I thought CaseySJ might have had another high-intensity workout this morning, haha. On my Z390 Aorus Pro, I am using an unflashed GC-Alpine Ridge. I'm using the AR SSDT from HackinDROM, which is attached. After either a cold or warm...

This happened to me when I was first experimenting with OC. It turns out that the boot was pointed not to the correct boot drive, but to an EFI folder that either was empty or didn't have the right contents. So OC just went back to the boot screen. When you boot, hit F12 and select the correct...
