    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

CaseySJ to the rescue once again. That did the trick! I’ve bought an M.2 and the Sabrent TB3 enclosure so that setting will definitely come in handy in the future. Don’t know why I didn’t think to try it. Thanks again Casey!

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Inspired by your choice of USB port, I plugged into the front USB port instead of the rear TB3 port and it worked just fine. Same with the USB-C (I have an extension to the back of the case as mine doesn’t have a front USB-C). Is there an obvious reason that i’ve overlooked why it wouldn’t work...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Just tried again with identical results. The EFI on the cloned drive will not boot the backup. I guess that's not really a problem as I have other backups of my EFI - As long as I can use one of those to boot the backup, then I guess it's ok.

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

This is on Big Sur 11.5. I created my backup using the Legacy Bootable Backup Assistant. I'm going to try erasing the drive and starting again. Now that it doesn't have to backup my User folder, the backups are a lot quicker!

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Thanks again for your help Casey. Unfortunately it’s already set to disabled. Just for clarity’s sake: M.2 Boot drive contains EFI, and macOS USB-C External is an exact clone made with CCC and EFIclone.sh I press F12 at boot and the following happens: Choose M.2 partition, I can boot macOS...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Ok turns out it was CCC Snapshots taking up the space! I’ve deleted them and now my main OS SSD is down to a tidy ~80GB. I’ve cloned the macOS drive to my external SSD and copied my EFI folder over using EFIClone.sh - but booting from the EFI on the external backup and choosing the backup drive...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

I'm having a little bit of trouble separating my Home folder from my macOS SSD as suggested in the guide. What I've accomplished: Created separate APFS Volume Copied original "Home" folder contents to the new volume Pointed macOS to my newly created volume containing the Home folder - All...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Just a little update to my Login screen background problem - updating from 11.4 to 11.5 solved it. No idea what was wrong, but the correct background is now displayed on initial macOS boot

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

I have this Fenvi card and it works great for me. I mainly use Ethernet as the router in my house is quite far away, but it’s been great for bluetooth and airdrop etc.

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Thanks Casey, I’ll have a read of that. My interface is plugged into the motherboard, however it’s in a USB3 port. I’ll try one of the USB2 ports. Thanks for this. I’ve made that change in the BIOS and will see how I get on. Fingers crossed!

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Is anyone else experiencing random skips in their audio with a USB interface? There doesn't seem to be any pattern that I can tell, but occasionally I get skipping audio, either when watching a video (in VLC for example) or editing (Premiere Pro/Davinci Resolve). It only seems to happen with my...

Yes i’m the only user. Its very strange as on the 11.4 beta it was fine. Soon as I upgraded to the 11.4 official, I get the default Big Sur screen on initial login.

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

I posted about this a little while ago but didn’t get an responses. Is anyone else getting the “default” Big Sur background on the initial login screen, that will then switch to your actual desktop background after logging in? This was never an issue before I upgraded to 11.4 - it was always my...

[Success] Radeon RX 6800 XT - Big Sur

I think you can omit step 2. I’m running Big Sur with a RX6800 on iMac19,1 - didn’t change anything from when I was using my RX580 except to add agdpmod=pikera to the boot arguments. As you’re coming from a 5700XT, you already have that. In that case, pretty sure you just need to update...

Anyone having the same login screen background issue as me on 11.4? I was using the 11.4 beta up until now, and my chosen desktop background has always been the background of the login screen after the loading screen. Just updated to the official 11.4 release and now my login screen is the...
