I wonder if @rustEswan or someone else with an Asus Prime X299- A II would be so kind to share their OC 0.7.3 config.plist? I'm trying to update OC from 0.6.8 to 0.7.3 and having one hell of a hard time getting it to work. Keep getting weird "borked" error messages on startup despite me trying...

    X299 Big Sur Support

Yeah, been checking the AMD site religiously and still no luck so far. I would have to literally have it on my browser and hit refresh constantly, basically doing nothing but that all day hoping to be fast enough. It's insane that it's June and we still have such a shortage situation. Meanwhile...

When people ask if the new Navi2 are worth the upgrade, are they asking in reference to the MSRP or the actual market prices that these GPU's are currently going for? Because there is at least $1000 discrepancy in there, and at to me that is a pretty big difference between "it's worth it" to...

Thank you for the offer. I'm using a fairly ancient Corsair H110, my idle temps are around 30-ish C, haven't really tested under load much, but I'm gearing up to soon as this is going to be my main Blender/Cycles render machine.

Thank you for the clarification. Yeah....so far so good. Got an initial Geekbench 5 multi score of 16255 compared to the previous score from my 9900k of 9107, a pretty good bump for sure! Next step is to see about doing some mild OCing. Have you used the ASUS BIOS speed tuner AI thing? I wonder...

    X299 Big Sur Support

So I did my hardware upgrade today and it went very smoothly thanks to your help. I do have a couple of questions -- one is that I noticed that your kexts like Lilu and WhateverGreen are fairly old, is there a reason why you aren't using the newer builds? Secondly, I noticed that some of the...

Have you updated to 11.3? I finally have all of my pieces parts in and ready to start my build thanks to your help, but I was wondering if the USBMap.kext needs to be redone to conform to the one that @nmano just posted above?

Thank you so much, that is incredibly nice of you!!! One quick question -- I noticed you're using the iMac Pro profile, I was thinking of using the latest Mac Pro for mine instead -- any concerns or pros and cons to be aware of?

    X299 Big Sur Support

Well, I'm trusting you on this since I just orderer one myself (Amazon and NewEgg have them at $350, not too bad of a price considering it's an x299 board). I hope you don't mind if I bug you from time to time if I have some issues. The only difference between what you're running and what I...

Yeah, I'm not that wealthy. Plus I have this strange feeling that Apple is about to let a lot of Mac Pro customers down. If Intel had an actual roadmap for high-end 11xxx CPU's within the next couple of months, I could see holding off and waiting. Unfortunately there is a good chance that...

Ok, but do you have any constructive advice beyond get yourself a 9900k or an M1 (incidentally I own both)? If I have computing needs that surpass what my current machines can offer, what exactly are my options here?

    i9 10980XE + Gigabyte X299X Aorus Master

Just checking in to see if you're still happy with that board? I'm thinking about picking it up, it's a bit pricier than the Gigabyte boards, but I suppose it's worth it for the peace of mind.

What do you mean by "approved"? Is there an official list somewhere for approved x299 boards? Also, I understand that X299 is old in the tooth, but what are the other options exactly for someone needing more performance than a Z470 can offer? Building a Ryzentosh seems ill advised in...

    X299 Big Sur Support

Funny, I keep getting bounced around. The users in that thread suggested that I ask the question here, and now users in this thread are suggesting that I ask in the other thread -- fun! My main concern is regarding the newer X299-X boards which apparently have some issues with booting when USB...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Oh boy. I've been hackintoshing for almost a decade so I'm not a newcomer to weird issues, but my pressure starts going up at the mere thought of the workarounds and other tweaks because a board is poorly designed or the BIOS is buggy. Is ASUS a better option? Prices are through the roof at the...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Sorry to be coming a bit late to the party, but I'm getting ready to purchase a Gigabyte AORUS Master X299X board along with a 10980EX 18-core CPU. I'm reading quite a lot of this thread and another couple of threads, but I was wondering as of today, what is the consensus on this configuration...

    X299 Big Sur Support

What is the consensus about the Gigabyte X299X Aorus Master? I'm really needing a mobo with 3 m.2 slots ideally, but I'm not clear if there is a BIOS issue or not (or if it's been addressed by O.C.)? Any advice is much appreciated. If the Gigabyte is a no-go...how about the Asus Prime X299- A II?
