    USB port limit patch for 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.5,14.6

Thanks @UtterDisbelief, I have no doubts that is the "proper" way to do it. But it seemed more involved than what I was able to allocate time for - I took my chances on the other approach, with my backup SSD ready in hand just in case things went south  So far, so good (knock on wood!)

    USB port limit patch for 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.5,14.6

Ok, just in case this can help someone else stuck on 10.14.4 - I've now applied the following patches using Clover Configurator, and in the left hand section going to "Kernel and Kext Patches" > "KextsToPatch", as well as downloading USBInjectAll under the "Kexts Installer" (in the left...

    USB port limit patch for 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.5,14.6

@jiffyslot: Do you mean you tried to jump to OpenCore for Mojave...? I'm stuck at Clover rev 4895 and Mojave 10.14.4. I've tried to update Clover and/or Mojave twice, but ended up with a machine that wouldn't boot at both attempts. Never been so happy I had a backup boot disk that worked...

    USB port limit patch for 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.5,14.6

Why isn't 14.4 included here...? Is it just an omission, or is it different and so will not work with these instructions (in which case, I wonder what will work, please?) :)

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Ah, sorry, misunderstood. Also see that I forgot to answer your question regarding USB 3 drives - no issues connecting at all. As far as Mojave upgrade guides go, I used a mix of different guides listed below to both upgrade and fix various issues after the fact...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Hi again KeNiQ, I think I mostly followed the january 2017 CustoMac Pro guidelines, as well as Beskone's build description linked to here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/beskones-ga-z170x-designaire-i7-6700k-geforce-980ti-build-skylake-imac-17-1.213683/#post-1433150 I can no longer...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Hi KeNiQ! Yes, after some initial problems that cmn699 helped me solve (thanks again cmn699!) my Mojave install has been rock solid. No issues with USB3 as far as I can tell. I don't really know regarding Thunderbolt as I've avoided Thunderbolt ever since switching to Hackintosh - as I am...

Gigabyte z170x-Designare: Advice for internal RAID, first Customac Pro build

Just want to update this thread to tell anyone wondering that I've succesfully managed to set up a RAID10 array inside my Hackintosh using a STLab PCIe SATA 6G A-590 adapter card that is natively supported under Mojave. I suspect this card is just a rebrand/clone of the Syba and similar...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Thanks again cmn699, I've already followed advice #1 and now keep a permanent, second SSD in my build that I've just cloned the system onto, so I have a fall-back disc to a known working state if something should ever happen. I also now plan to religiously follow the "if it ain't broken don't...

Gigabyte z170x-Designare: Advice for internal RAID, first Customac Pro build

Just to update this thread: I regret to inform anyone interested in combining Areca RAID cards with a Hackintosh under 10.14.3/4 Mojave that I have been unsuccesful getting my Gigabyte z170 Designare-based build to play along with the Areca 1224-8 card after upgrading to Mojave. I've had lots...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Hi cmn699, this took WAY longer than anticipated as I've been bogged down with work and just had to continue using my Hackintosh in a semi-permanent state of unfinishedness to get work done, but I've finally managed to follow your suggestions, as well as another tutorial on fixing USB issues and...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Thanks a lot again cmn699, I'm SO grateful! I'm in the middle of two work deadlines right now and can't risk altering anything ATM as I'm using the Hackintosh in the process. Have to take care of first things first, but will hopefully be able to dive into this again in the beginning of next...

<< Solved >> Need help: Audio not working with Mojave on a Gigabyte z170x-Designare mobo

Like the title says. I have upgraded the OS on my trusty Hackintosh from Sierra to Mojave and finally been able to get it working, changing GPU from Nvidia 980Ti to Amd RX580 in the process. Seems like everything is working except audio and Quicklook with JPEGs. And I can't access the internal...

Gigabyte z170x-Designare: Advice for internal RAID, first Customac Pro build

Thanks Pastrychef, I really value your opinion. The storage server build isn't written in stone yet, so I'm still open to suggestions. What really sold me on the FreeNAS was the file integrity stuff, and my intention was to just build it with the 8 drives I have and forget about expansion...

Gigabyte z170x-Designare: Advice for internal RAID, first Customac Pro build

Just to update this for anyone researching RAID solutions: The Areca card is still going strong entering into 2019, but I recently had some serious issues with the RAID array. I have to emphasise at the same time that AFAIK this was entirely my own fault, for being new to hardware RAIDs and...

[Solved] Slow Hackintosh after long periods of inactivity

Will just addd to this that I began experiencing similar symptoms on my Macbook Pro (legit) and also Chrome becoming unresponsive while logged in on both my MacBook Pro and Hackintosh, and in the end decided to uninstall Google Drive completely. I've had zero issues after that. I'm quite...
