    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

My issue with USB on the TB3 AIC is probably restricted to the AMD platform. There are some who are using the GB TRX40 mobo that supports a TB3 AIC, having a TB header on the mobo. They have TB and USB functionality on those mobos. My mobo is an MSI TRX40 that does not have a TB header and...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I had to pull the GB TR AIC from my TRX40 build in the latest Big Sur 11.3+ due to freezes. This card is one I've used in previous Z390 and X570 builds. I re-flashed tonight using the recommended firmware from the repository and Big Sur now seems stable with the TR AIC. Thanks! I know this is...

[Success] Radeon RX 6800 XT - Big Sur

This post is about how Kernel patches can affect GPU performance, specifically a PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT on a 3970X Threadripper TRX40 mobo. If you're Intel based, the results may be interesting, but the patches are of no importance. And while the results are accurate for a TRX40 mobo, they...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Is the description ever unclear. The bottom section is poorly worded, suggesting that Intel is 0, or, disable is 0: "revcpu=value to enable (1, non-Intel default)/disable (0, Intel default) CPU brand string patching" At the top of the readme file this is contradicted by: "CPU brand...

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

revcpu = 1 is for non-Intel CPUs. For Intel, set revcpu = 0 (I updated the original post to avoid future confusion.)

    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Thanks. I updated the attachment on my original post to include your findings, so it now covers 2, 4 and 8 DIMM setups for MacPro7,1.

    Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

I too tried and was unsuccessful, because I was only passing the revcpuname value. If you pass this and revcpu=1, then it works as follows when RestrictEvents in enabled in the Kernel/Add section of OpenCore: But the Memory pane changes (from what I earlier posted on another of your...

    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Besides the AMD 6900XT drivers being present in the latest Big Sur public beta and usable when the SMBIOS MacPro7,1 is used. I noticed another advantage to using the MacPro7,1 SMBIOS (at least on my TRX40 build): the USB-C port on the TB card is present and active. However, when a USB-C drive...

    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

Thanks! I've updated my above post and attachment, to incorporate your corrected 4 DIMM settings.

    Gigabyte B550 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + AMD RX 5600 XT

I've finally figured out how to correctly use the Memory section in OC. I decided to work on this since I've now changed to using MacPro7,1 instead of iMacPro1,1 due to the former apparently being a better match for going forward with AMD 6x00XT GPUs. If you follow this guide carefully, you...

    Ongoing Progress - Big Sur on Gigabyte B550 Vision D - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - Thunderbolt 3

The OS shouldn't be affecting your ports. It may be that you need to clear the Hackintool's buffer. You can clear then refresh the buffer as shown below. Image 1, a fresh run on my laptop before clearing: Image 2, same laptop, after clicking on the broom (clear) and then the circle...

    Ongoing Progress - Big Sur on Gigabyte B550 Vision D - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - Thunderbolt 3

CaseySJ, Disabling the last 4 of MmioWhitelist was on the recommendation of vit9696. If you change anything of note in BIOS, you need to re-run the list in OC debug (such as ± Above 4G, etc). I've sporadically seen sleep work on my MSI TRX40 Creator, and think that there may be an interaction...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

CaseySJ, You mention using OpenCore Configurator v2.8.0.0, which is presently latest version. However, this version is for OC v059, not v060. Items are missing and this can lead to a corrupted config.plist file, which can be a pain to track down. Example: GlobalConnect is missing (see Spoiler)...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks for your hard work! The calculator is easy to use. When you mention fixing items in "Device Name", is the CRC32c re-calculated if we edit the Device Name (that is, changing it to something other than the stock string that you've programmed) before pressing the "Generate SSDT" button...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I too noticed this change starting in one of the incremental changes in v058 (maybe when the "APFS Properties" section was added to the UEFI section?). I think what's happening is related to Misc/Security changes in how AllowSetDefault functions. Try different settings for AllowSetDefault.

[In progress] SSDT for Thunderbolt 3 Hotplug

Are you using an SSDT for TB? If not, a good one can help. But some of your symptoms are usual unless you flash modified firmware.

[In progress] SSDT for Thunderbolt 3 Hotplug

I've flashed several AR and TR cards (along with a Z390 GB Xtreme mobo) and have both types working in Z390, X299 and X570 builds. After flashing the trick is getting an SSDT, which usually only requires little effort to adapt from others and get working (except for the TRX40 I'm now working...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

CaseySJ, It's not clear to me what TB-related patches for flashed firmware we're to be using. I have some of what's shown in the Spoiler below included, but now don't know if this is useful. Can you clarify? Also, what new PINI method should we include in the SSDT? Thanks.

I don't think CMMChris made things worse. Keep in mind that if you repeatedly run GeekBench, you'll get different readings, so under 5% bewteen 2 runs is more likely statistical variation. Run it 20x each way and watch the trend. Also, I've noticed better readings once the computer has been...
