    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Good day @TheBloke :). Yes I edited the smbios and put in my machine's personal info. i went in and edited each that was labeled "changeme" with my own. The other things I changed was SecureBootModel with value Disabled and another change I can't currently recall, as it wouldn't allow the...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@TheBloke A quick follow up on my upgrade to 0.6.3 using the provided EFI folder. Well, it did not go well. Somehow using the specific acpi SSDT's resulted in my opencore partition crashing. First, I had to modify some things in the EFI to make the scripts run (as it would do nothing initially)...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@TheBloke Copy that. Perfect timing. Thanks for the explanation. It does makes sense how I was possibly triggering the MB error. Good to know you are looking into dual boot. Thanks for the config file. Be back shortly... @byteminer install the smalltreeIntel8259x kext in...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

hey @TheBloke. Seems i am a day late. Well there were two different behaviors before and after my mac restore. Before my restore, sleep did completely power my down my hardware. But it would freeze on reawakening. After restore, i noticed a lot of things got overwritten, as even manually...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@TheBloke Thanks for the bios details. I will double check those match when I do this. Then i'll test with your config file as well. Regarding thunderbolt 3, i can confirm all my devices work fine with the generic SSDT including my apollo thunderbolt audio interface. Regarding sleep and wake...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@TheBloke thank you for your detailed response and linking me to those posts. it's good to know my error message has been seen before although it is no longer being experienced. I was taking the "if it aint broke" approach so I haven't updated to the newest version of opencore yet, but will be...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Quick question guys: So is anyone here running a dual boot system with MacOs and Windows 10? Everytime I start my computer i'm still greeted by the dreaded error message: "Boot failure detected. The system has experienced a boot failure possibly due to incorrect configuration. Previous setings...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@teosoft EFI attached for you fine sir. You're probably right about the restore & sleep. Perhaps it also restored some hidden apple system files that allows macOS to sleep. I say this because i don't see any additional kexts added post restore to my EFI besides the normal stuff I originally...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@teosoft what did you do to make it run at 3200? Just enable XMP profile? If so, that literally does nothing on my end. Show 2133mhz regardless. So on my end, I restored an actual Mac backup from my 2013 mac pro. That's what is running on my opencore disk. Regarding sleep, I just went to make...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Allright, it looks like i have everything working the way I want it. Only one odd issue: My bios has the xmp profile enabled and shows 3600 mhz (my max ram speed), but once macOS loads, it only displays the RAM speed as 2133mhz. This is not an issue I had a couple weeks ago. Anyone know if...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@teosoft Thank you for all that good info. Looks like I don't have a choice but to get dirty on the motherboard to get thunderbolt working. Was this a complicated process? Could you please point me to the programmer and all accessories you used so I could follow suit? I see the following...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@Dogman no, i am still using 0.5.9. i will post my bios settings a little later today for you guys. Standard settings though. I didn't do anything special. Could the different monitors we use have anything to do with it? I'm using a crg9.I did notice it is slow to show on the display upon wake...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

@teosoft don't want to make your comment not visible so i'll make it short. I got ethernet working again. Thanks. It needed to be installed via System/Library/Extension for me. I'm on mojave. Not sure if you figured it out, but I have sleep working with the EFI i posted earlier. i also used...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Hi Teosoft, how did you get 10gbe Ethernet working? Did you have to take apart the motherboard as the original post? I noticed your EFI did not have the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext in your efi, yet you have Ethernet working. Mine worked for a while, but stopped working after a restart. Also...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Hi @beltzak , it appears I spoke too soon. Ethernet stopped working on its own after a restart. i've tried removing and re-adding the SSDT-X299X-DESIGNARE10G-X550T.aml and SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext file, but suddenly ethernet is no longer detected. Any clues? i've attached my EFI if it helps. Thanks.

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Beltzak + Dolgarennan, Thank you both for the info. I will be giving the mapping a shot and reporting back. I did manage to boot opencore, but i've noticed slowness or freezing with multiple USB connected in the slots, so that's why I thought it wasn't working "properly". At the moment...

    Gigabyte X299X - Catalina Support

Beltzak, thank you so much. I tried the ethernet and SSDT and it worked perfectly. Many thanks. Can you point me to the USB Mapping guide you are referring to? Also, is there a thunderbolt PCIE card known to be working with this board? Would the Gigabyte GC-Alpine Ridge be a solid choice? I...

hello dolgarrenan and everyone. I have returned to this thread. I have successfully built my first computer and managed to install opencore (Mojave) on the designare x299x motherboard. However, I don't believe I have my USB ports working properly. Did you guys do anything specific to get...

Bluetooth Issues El Capitan... HELP PLEASE

Thank you. Looks like I did the same mistake in 2020 lol. Appreciate it. And for whoever reads this comment in the future as well, boot into windows to download the latest drivers before booting in your mac. I've found it things like "Bluetooth Low Energy Supported:No" will show yes afterwards.
