Desktop feels laggy and chrome very slow

Why would it be solved? Downgrading fixes the terrible, near unusable lag/stuttering, but the previous drivers still have a lot of flaws. I get stuttering and lag when running 1 or 2 Adobe apps, Atom editor, etc. A powerful GPU should be able to breeze through such basic work.

[Beta release] NativeDisplayBrightness 0.0.5 testing [updated]

joevt is correct - the volume for the display could also be adjusted in a similar way to the brightness using DDC/CI. At present you have to use the manual controls on the display itself.

[Beta release] NativeDisplayBrightness 0.0.5 testing [updated]

This version is great! Thank you @KAMIKAZEUA. Feature request: volume control. My monitor has a headphone jack and you can only control volume with the on-screen menu (macOS doesn't have volume control for DisplayPort/HDMI connections).

Major 10.13.1 bug discovered - root without password

Yeah, I tried it because I saw someone suggesting to disable it on Reddit. When I tried to unlock the Users & Groups preference pane with 'root' it worked straight away, even though I had just changed the password and then disabled root. The bug has been patched (and seems to automatically...

Major 10.13.1 bug discovered - root without password

Correction: do NOT disable root with 'sudo dsenableroot -d' after setting the root password. From the 'man dsenableroot' page: dsenableroot sets the password for the root account if enabling the root user account. Otherwise, if disable [-d] is chosen, the root account passwords are...

Slow Boot time with Samsung 960 Evo NVME?

I don't think HFS compatibility will be going for a long time (in terms of secondary or external drives) - but what may change is that a future macOS version might require APFS for the boot drive. But for now, with High Sierra at least, HFS is still fine. Also, I don't think your audio issues...

    Success Hackintosh i7 GA-Z170X-UD5 TH - i7-6700K - GIGABYTE GTX 970

I've been seeing similar issues - I feel it's related to the GPU. Windows can lag when you switch to them, quitting a GPU-intensive app causes stuttering/loss of cursor control for a few seconds, etc. It improved slightly with 10.13.1 and the web drivers for that, but it's still very much there...

Desktop feels laggy and chrome very slow

The issues are still there, but a few problems I had noticed (especially with Firefox) were resolved by updating to 10.13.1 and the latest webdrivers. I'm still getting lag in Sketch, when resizing Chrome windows, etc. When I quit some apps the cursor gets stuck for a moment while they close...

Can you upload your config.plist and EFI folder (excluding themes)? Have you got the Nvidia web drivers installed for High Sierra?

[Solved]Fixes to Get Full Acceleration on Intel HD Graphics in iMac 17.1

Interesting, thanks. Your setup is fairly similar to mine, though I have an Nvidia card (and NvidiaGraphicsFixup). Also my SSDTs are a little different (OT, but you don't need LPC for an iMac17,1 - apparently even the real ones don't have it). Perhaps both your devices show up in System Info...

[Solved]Fixes to Get Full Acceleration on Intel HD Graphics in iMac 17.1

Did you use the headless/connectorless PCI ID for the HD530? 0x19120001? I'm interested as to how you see both graphics devices under System Info. I only see my Nvidia card, but I'm running the HD 530 as 'headless'.

[Solved] NVIDIA Web Driver iBooks Bug

Hi @mlg, I had a question for you regarding this extension. If you uninstall it (unload kext, remove it from S/L/E, clear caches) then does your system remain otherwise unmodified/vanilla?

[Solved] NVIDIA Web Driver iBooks Bug

iMac17,1 as this matches my hardware (100 series motherboard, 6700k CPU, etc.). Well, aside from the Nvidia card I guess. From what I understand it does appear that the two solutions are mutually exclusive - you have one or the other, but not both. Interesting. I see you have an ASUS board as...

[Solved] NVIDIA Web Driver iBooks Bug

Changing from ig-platform-id 19120001 to 19120000 results in loss of Quick Sync and computer restarts instantly when opening an iBook on my GA-Z170X-UD5 TH motherboard with 6700k CPU and iMac17,1 SMBIOS.

[Solved] Enable 10bit with nVidia Web Drivers

Is there some way of enabling this permanently without using a third-party app? ResXtreme reports that the 10 bit mode is 'public' so it seems weird that it's not used by default.

[Beta release] NativeDisplayBrightness 0.0.5 testing [updated]

This works exactly as described with my LG 27UD68-W, thank you very much for your efforts. I love how it works like it's native! If you ever feel like implementing monitor volume control in a similar manner, that would be awesome. I've been using this menulet to control...
