After further review of the situation, I'm going to make the following changes:
Swap the 710 card for a radeon rx 560 with an amd chipset made by asrock and upgrade the power supply of the 980 from 305 watts to 550 watts to support the 560 which needs at least 400 watts, then try again.
I'm back after a 2 week quarantine ready to do battle in order to install Mojave on my dell optiplex 980 pc.
At present, I created a usb installer based on the instructions on the is website. Here is my current issue:
The usb installer boots into the clover boot screen(5102). After...
I just received the Dell 980 pc mentioned above and installed the EVGA GT 640 into it. I then went into the bios, reset to the defaults, then changed the disk to ahci and turned off the serial port based on the instructions in the document 'Install Mojave On Any Supported Intel-based PC'...
After reviewing the innards of the Dell 980, I'm going to need a graphics card like the following:
EVGA Geforce GT 640
as the other cards you mentioned will not fit because they are too long. If this card will work with Mojave or there are similar cards available, please let me know.
Definitely will be looking for a more compatible graphics card. Thanks for the info. As I check out the cards you mentioned, I have a Gigabyte Radeon RX570 4gb graphics card with an AMD chipset available that I can use in the new pc. The only issue I see is that I may have to remove the bracket...
Ok thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to go back to High Sierra for the moment. Since I am partial to Dell and HP desktop pc, can you give me any pointers that I should be on the lookout for a desktop that should be able to have Mojave installed and run?
I'm going to try installing High...
Thanks for the response. I am going to replace the card at this point. I am looking at the following candidates to replace it below(4gb models):
AMD Radeon RX 560
Sapphire RX 560
Also, which chipset should I be looking for in the video cards mentioned above that will work with Mojave...
I'm back with another attempt to install Mojave on my Dell Optiplex 780. The difference this time is that I was able to acquire a XFX Amd Radeon 560 graphics card with 4gb of gddr5 ram which according to my research should be compatible with Mojave. All other components of my build...
I am trying to install Mojave on my dell optiplex 780 and am running into a problem getting the unibeast installer to complete the initial install process. It crashes around the 2 minute mark, never completing the initial process. It then reboots where I have to hit f12 to re-select the...
I am running into an issue trying to create a legacy boot mode installer usb drive for my dell optiplex 780 desktop which does not support EFI. What's happening is that it creates what looks looks like an EFI install drive and also a second object on the desktop called EFI.
I have attached...
Sorry about the double post. It was late and I was falling asleep.
Anybody have any suggestions about what could be happening and how I can resolve it to complete the install of mojave?
Thanks in advance,
Continuing the mojave install saga, I installed and ran the unibeast app to ready the usb stick for booting on my dell desktop.
After checking off all the necessary options I needed, I inserted the usb stick in the left usb port on the front of the desktop and booted the desktop. All...
Here's something else I just though of: since I made a backup of my system drive, would it be better to do a fresh install of mojave using the instructions found on this site, then installing CCC, then restoring everything from the cloned backup?
Would this work?
Anyone? I would prefer to go forward and complete the upgrade to mojave as I just found out that my clone of the drive using CCC does not work. Based on what I have researched so far on this site, my clone is missing the efi partition in order to boot from the clone.
If I have to re-boot from...
While waiting on my latest try at finding a video card that will drive 2 screens and supports Mojave, I decided to try upgrading from High Sierra to Mojave.
I followed the upgrade/install instructions found elsewhere on this website(the os software seemed to install and reboot as...
I just attempted to install Mojave on a mid 2011 macbook pro and am getting a message that says
'this version of mac os 10.14.6 cannot be installed on this computer'
Can anyone tell me why this is? I have read that the install is possible elsewhere on the internet.
