SUCCESS: Asus prime Z370-A MK II + i5-9600K + Sapphire Pulse RX 580

Totally unrelated topic, but how do you feel the build will work with VR headsets, such as the Oculus Rift? Is the rx580 powerful enough to handle it? Thanks as always.

    [Success] Squirrelzone's Z370-A II - i5 9600k - Radeon 5700 build

Yes, CSM is disabled. I believe that I saw in your write up: Launch CSM Enabled Secure Boot Disabled I have it disabled, and I was able to delete the keys, but on prior hacks with other boards I was able to disable secure boot directly. Currently it is working, with Mojave, Windows 10, and...

Mr. Aldaro, Thank you for this excellent write up. I understand how to place a kext in the kext folder in the EFI folder. But how do I then add it to the plist as is mentioned in your writeup and cross referenced in the guide to port mapping? Does a program like Propertree, for example, find...

Last part came in yesterday, Fractal Define 7 case! Now just waiting to open the box and begin assembling this weekend! So excited, and you'll be the first to know how it is going. I'll probably have more questions once it is together and I am trying to get it working. Thanks again for...

SUCCESS: Asus prime Z370-A MK II + i5-9600K + Sapphire Pulse RX 580

Looks great, very clean, and more instructions. I do not understand all of your additional optimizations, and might ask you again once I have all the components of my system in place. Waiting on them all to arrive over the course of the next week. Thanks for all the work you have done and...

Got it. I tried to follow your links for purchasing items in general, but it's good to know that you found MC to be useful as well. I find that they will match most prices, and they are pretty reasonable when it comes to returns. Not sure how it all works now with the state of the world though.

Any thoughts about using 4 single sticks vs a pack of 4? Microcenter is right down the street, and the I5-9600k is cheaper there as well. Just excited about getting this going finally. Not much else to do...

Bergier, The only other one I found similar to yours was the following: https://www.microcenter.com/product/600821/Ballistix_Sport_LT_8GB_(1_x_8GB)_DDR4-2666_PC4-21300_CL16_Single_Channel_Desktop_Memory_Module_BLS8G4D26BFSBK_-_Gray Almost identical, except the letters at the end are BFSBK...

Thanks so much to both of you for your replies, and replying so quickly. I literally spent 4 hours with the QVL and crosschecking web sites for availability. I think because this is not the newest board, many sites are sold out, and the QVL is 17 pages long. I really appreciate your support...

SUCCESS: Asus prime Z370-A MK II + i5-9600K + Sapphire Pulse RX 580

I'm still stuck on the RAM. Since your sticks are no long available online, I have been looking at the 2666, and model numbers just don't line up with those listed on the ASUS qualified vendor list on the website: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-Z370-A-II/HelpDesk_QVL/ It seems...

SUCCESS: Asus prime Z370-A MK II + i5-9600K + Sapphire Pulse RX 580

I was intending to buy the A II, because it was newer and that was the one that you had attached to the bios compatibility list in your prior post: 1 : You have a version that handle the 9th generation (list here), and you're good to go. I think you need at least version 0602). The AII states...

I still can't figure out if the BIOS on the motherboard I intend to purchase is compatible with 8th or 9th generation. And is the motherboard the Z370-A or AII? I am glad it worked out so well for you.

Also, any concerns about this? I found it when putting the build together on PCPartsPicker: Warning! Some Intel Z370 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Coffee Lake Refresh CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.

It's been a few years since my last hackintosh, so it's time for me to build a new one and update to Catalina. Your components were similar to the ones I have decided upon, with the exception of the Prime board instead of yours. Has the other poster found this to be successful while using your...

Thanks so much Obvious Answer Man and itwas. After 2 long nights trying to figure out what I had done wrong, I used your advice and it took 45 minutes to fix everything! Why was the driver removed from that build? I usually update using the prefpanel addon, and had no idea there was an issue...
