    i7-9700K + ASUS Z390-A, which GPU's?

Yeah I was in a similar situation once. It gets weird and complicated. An application in OS X might look at certain info it can find in ioreg and assume that's your graphics card, or at least one that it can use, even though it doesn't have a driver attached. Because on a Mac this is a safe...

    i7-9700K + ASUS Z390-A, which GPU's?

Mixed GPU platforms: I tried it once. The drivers will probably work, but applications do not like it! On the NVME, if you get one of the ones that can be 4k formatted and use a recent OS build, then no problem - it's native. The 4k format process is a quick one-time thing. I like to do it this...

    i7-9700K + ASUS Z390-A, which GPU's?

You could also consider an NVME SSD. The dual AMD is alright, if that's what you want to have for Windows gaming. I've found no problems with multiple cards when using OpenCL programs - at least, none that real Macs don't also have the issue, i.e. poor program design. Other forms, like OpenGL...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

That's the type of reply I should have expected. Fine - I don't wish to argue. Just don't put words in my mouth. I have no desire to write guides. That's an ad hominem, anyway.

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Darkvoid, when OP left did they put you in charge of this thread or something? You act as though you're the guide author even though you never went to the trouble of writing one. Ocytoxin, it appears you're missing Lilu. If you want to use kexts that need Lilu (it's typically the case now) and...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Thanks. I updated my patches, and it does fix the issue with that SSDT. I haven't noticed any different fan behavior though. Same for you? I suspect it may have to do with the variable CTYP, which appears to control whether active cooling is used. I'm actually on FakeSMC now, because of an...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Interesting. There is an SSDT for the Dynamic Platform Thermal Framework that I hadn't looked at before. Also, I just found this GitHub issue: https://github.com/intel/dptf/issues/22#issuecomment-402861777 It suggests that the DPTF has a policy that uses passive/active trip point, but available...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

A recent post: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-dell-xps-13-9360-on-macos-sierra-10-12-x-lts-long-term-support-guide.213141/post-1893290 It must be a Mojave thing, because I don't get it on 10.13.6. I've not seen much in this thread about how the OS controls what's going on with the...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

Again, I'm interested if anyone else finds the USB C to be not working with USB 3 devices? I've found this thread now: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/usb-c-hotplug-not-working.223534/post-1629770 The change mentioned is included in @the-darkvoid 's SSDT-TYPC.dsl file, and my bdmesg output...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

I tried the CPUFriend posted by @zanzy, as it matches my CPU. The CPU package power at idle, as reported by Intel Power Gadget, is the same, at about 1.5W, for me. This is measured with the display sleeping, which gives me the lowest reading, naturally. I lost only a very slight amount in...

[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9360 on MacOS Sierra 10.12.x - LTS (Long-Term Support) Guide

I couldn't get those kexts to load properly, for some reason. The only difference I see in the kernel output is the GPIO stuff loading before the I2C, instead of the other way around, but I don't know what that's about. I figure I can wait for a release and see what happens, cause I don't mind...

I also have no way to right click, with the trackpad. There was another report 10 or so pages back. Anybody have any ideas? I'll post problem reporting files tomorrow, after I've finished my final post-install task (USB UIAC).

[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch

I used this guide on a 430 G5 with Kaby Lake i3-7100. I installed 10.12.6. Happy to report that, contrary to the info here, HDMI output (including audio) works fine. I was even able to find a driver for the SD card reader (just Google "sinetek").

    End Of MacOS on Intel?

I do agree that, in the event Apple divorces from Intel entirely, they'll make their own x86 chips to supplement the ARM ones. But what would be the point of picking AMD? They don't have their own fabs. If Apple's doing the design, they can hire a fab to produce it without AMD's help. edited to...
